Caught in the middle of this dysfunction
It's your sad reality

Long, graceful hands clamped to small ears. That's the first thing you take in when you enter the tiny room at the back of the house. You swear softly and sit, almost but not quite touching the rocking ball of sweat and tears and blood, probably, knowing her. You wait, just a minute, just to let her calm down. Your own hands, almost as long as hers, but calloused and rough, go to untangle her white knuckled-grip from the hair the gleaming color of a crow's feathers when it's clean, though now it just looks like a kettle. She whimpers a bit when you touch her head, and your fingers come away bloody. You grimace, because you just trimmed her fingernails the day before yesterday, damn it, they were down to stubs-

A soft whine stops you, and you have to look, have to see those lapis blue eyes, even though you know that they're wide an terrified, and that the dark lashes look like penmarks against how pale her skin is. You shake your head, murmur "Shhhh, Misa, I'm here baby. You know who I am? You know where you are? You know what's happening?" It's all routine, always the same questions. And she's got those pearly whites that you help her brush everyday buried in her thick, pouty lower lip, but it's still quivering, and oh, Ripred, she's just barely holding it together. It's a bad day. Shit.

"I-Iri." she stammers, and you nod, reaching out a hand and rubbing a thumb over her high, prominent cheekbones. Her eyes flutter shut in response, and her nose crinkles, making it look more upturned than it already is. "Iri. My room. S-Saw a m-monster." And her eyes pop back open to scan the room quickly. Seeming satisfied, she closes them again, breathing out and letting her head rest on your shoulder, the thin, pale collumn of her throat moving as she swallows hard. "S'gone now. Sorry." She whispers.
