Appearance:
[glow=red,2,300] Aspen isn't the most well fed girl in District 7, but at least she isn't overfed. Standing at just over 5 feet, she is a bit short for her age. The girl normally keeps her hair down, in short, stubble waves of scruffy brown hair, considering it's to short to braid, or put up in any way for that matter. Aspen keeps her hair short most times, and trims it a bit blotchy with her older brothers sharpened knife. She hates having it long,in her face or up in some sor of way what would wack her in the face.Personality:
Aspens eyes are green, but sometimes appear to be a light brown, or grey, especially for a distance. She has freckles sprinkled randomly upon her face, mostly on her cheeks and on her lower forehead. Her skin has little acne, except for where her hair meets her forehead, where some are pretty distinct. Her younger sister, Cone, only six years old tells her she is pretty, but Aspen denies it, knowing Cone was prettier. More.... precious than herself, with her mutt-like appearance.
Aspen tends to be a shyer person than others when it comes to strangers. She tends to avoid Peacekeepers for the most part, knowing there were powerful people, wanting to serve the Capitol. But whenever she had come face to face with one, she tries to act innocently, and show at least a bit of respect, at least. After all, they had the power to blow off anyone's head if you got out of line.History:
Aspen's relationship with her family has always been quite warm, yet independent, in a sense. Her older brother, Austin and her are very close. He taught her about snakes, and how some are poisonous, and some are not. He tells her how to tell which ones are, and even how to safely kill one with a knife. Being a logger, he has some limited access to the woods, and sometimes slips in to grab a few snakes. The fence for the logging area isn't really electric, and is pretty easy to climb if you don't mind getting a few nicks from the barbs at the top. Not many animals live there, but there are some rabbits and birds. However, Aspen is only 13, and only ever really killed a few snakes, and a crow she vaguely remembers flying into the window, dizzy. While it was down, she took a rock about as big as her palm, and thru it at it's head, knocking it to the ground, dead cold.
Although shy, she does have a couple nice friends in school. Ruth and Glen. They spend some time in the very, thin wooded areas scattered around the district, untouched. They're so thin, there is no point wasting precious money and energy cutting them down. You could see the other side quite clearly through them.
Aspen is fairly though, not so much physically, and certainly not in the sense she could throw someone over her shoulder, but it's more likely she could go longer without food. The Pinmen's eat scarcely, surviving off of cooked snakes, gathered plants and small berries from shrubs, in grassy areas, and near the fence that encloses the logging area. She can last at least a couple days without food, and is used to being hungry. But she's still only young, and there's only so much she can take.
Despite being a rather quiet girl, there are times Aspen will find herself sadistic and angered, and will take it out by kicking the dog, literally, outside, or spending countless hours in the thin woods, carving hateful words in the tree to the Capitol, only to scratch it away after, so no one would find her messages. She despises the fact that there are districts, strict rules and laws, especially, that they make kids as young as 12 fight to the death. If she could eliminate one thing with the point of a figure, it would surely be the Games. Normally what sets her off on a quiet rage is when she hears her parent arguing, and yelling at each other.
Aspen was born to a family of four, at the time. Her mother and father, and her older brother, Austin, even little Cone all share the same brown hair, though her mother's slightly darker. She was born in the year of the 50th Hunger Games, 4 years after Austin. She was a joy, the first born girl to the Pinmen's. Someone to help around the house when she grew older, and Austin would surely follow in his father's foot prints, and become a loggers as well. Things seemed to be going smooth, with an almost fair enough pay for Mr.Pinmen, and Ms. Pinmen, who got a job in amateur carving. It didn't make as much, of course, but she made enough to help buy a loaf of bread perhaps every two months or so.Codeword: odair
The family wasn't rich but it was enough to buy a few buckets for water, and simple food, and very, very rarely, meat. Everything was almost stable, until the indecent. Aspen had been in school for four years, now, learning about the history of Panam, briefly touching on the games, and other, normal school teachings, that any other kid would learn. Austin was twelve now, and it was his first year with his name entered for the reaping. Everything was fin, until one day, that turned their lives upside down.
Mr.P was at work, as usual, mapping out sites, planting new trees and chopping down old ones. They worked in teams, cutting, to ensure safety. It wasn't until a large tree fell the wrong way, sending it plummeting down in his direction. It wasn't until he heard branches crashing that he had merely escaped. The heavy, long branches, crushed his legs, breaking them. He was in tons of pain, whaling at home for months unable to work, his pay fell, and the family became very poor. Austin had to sign up for tesserea to keep the family going, and on his first year, too.
Years passed... and Austin's name was entered many more times. He knew what had to be done, and began a job as a logger, at the age of 17. He taught Aspen about snakes[/glow]
