I love the sunrise.
The morning is the best time of day. It is when no one is up, apart from a few workers in the fields, and the mockingjays, singing along to the steady tune of nature. Of course, it's rare for me to be up so early, as I do oh-so love the sunset, also. But the sunrise is different. It symbolizes the start of a new beginning, something to be grateful for.
At least, in my eyes. Other's don't seem to share my thoughts on the matter.
"What are you doing up so early?" the familiar voice of my younger yet much more muscular brother, Ervin, asks. I look up from where I sit on the steps of our old cottage, to see the confused eleven year old looking at me from the front door.
"Watching the sunrise," I reply simply. My brother's eyes narrow suspiciously.
"Why?"
I just shrug at his question. I can tell he wouldn't understand if I explained what I thought of the sunrise. He would just call me 'daft' for thinking such thoughts.
He rolls his eyes at my explanation.
"Well, let's head inside. It's fuckin' freezing out here," he says matter-of-factly. I gasp, shocked at his potty-mouth.
"Ervin!" I scold. "Don't swear, you're only eleven!"
"Whatever," he replys, rolling his eyes dramatically yet again. "You comin' inside or not?"
I pause for a moment, before replying.
"No," I decide. "I have some.. errands I need to run." He shrugs at me, before heading inside, the door closing behind him. I stand up and wipe the snow from my backside. This would certainly have been a much more enjoyable activity during summer.
I make my way to the center of the the District, which only takes me ten minutes or so. Even at six o'clock, the district seems to be bursting with life. I suppose that it's maybe because we are one of the more larger Districts, after all. It's still nice to be able to walk around without being in danger of my toes being trampled on.
Well, that's what I thought, until I get distracted. I was just hopping along, watching my feet to make sure I didn't stand on the cracks - it's supposed to be a bad omen, after all - when I bump into someone.
"Sorry!" I say quicky, blushing as I stumble backwards. I had always been rather clumsy on my feet.
OOC: Please reply as the person that Clarity happened to bump into :3
