Topaz Ross- the victor- is best known for one of the most infamous in-game relationships with Nash Harvey. The two female tribute sealed their love with many kisses before the two thought each other until Nash Harvey fell to her wounds. Wisdom Ash read- her brown eyes scanning over the glossy pages of the official guide to the 56th Hunger Games; the knowledge was already known to Wisdom, but she didn’t mind learning it again. Though she did like the 56th Hunger Games, she loved the 58th- it was one of her favourite arena’s with one of her favourite victors; Lethe Turner. In many ways, Wisdom believed Lethe was like her- socially unaccepted due to a disability, which had now been swept aside by the fame and fortune of the games; something Wisdom had not been graced with.
Putting down her book on the grass below, she reached over to pick up a second book- this one was a guide to the 58th games. Opening the pages, she flicked through until she found the page of fallen tributes; all their black and white images staring blankly back at her as if they were the corpses themselves. She ran her finger shakily to District 6, where two somewhat familiar faces looking back out at her. Alikia Lombrary, 14 years of age, dead day one and beside her the picture of Dicentra Gambler, 15 and died day 6; he was in the final 5 which was a rare occurrence for those of Wisdom’s District. She looked up from the book shaking her head as she tried to expel the pent-up energy inside her body as a memory from a long time ago seeped into her mind.
It had been early spring- the rain had just cleared up and Wisdom’s body was unhappy. She was hitting her head against the floor of her bedroom- trying to expel the thing inside it before it exploded- she needed it out of her now; but it wouldn’t go away. The Doctors and nurses had given up on her and let her slam her head against the floor again and again and again- they knew eventually she would stop and move on to doing something else. Which she did, her body decided she needed to do something else- this actions was boring her and she wanted to go outside; so off she went, into the front garden to stare at the sky- but too quickly did the noise of outside over whelm her senses. The sound of the birds sounded like fog horns and the sounds of people talking sounded like yelling; Wisdom could barely cope with inside let alone outside. She tried to mute the sound as she covered her ears and closed her eyes- but they wouldn’t go away; so she screamed out. As she did, Wisdom noticed people on the street had stopped to watch her; including a pair of blue eyes belonging to that of Alikia Lombrary and the brown ones of Dicentra Gambler. Alikia looked away awkwardly before moving on, whereas Dicentra shook his head in disgust and walked on laughing to his small younger friend.
The quietness of the park was beginning to leave and more sounds were introduced- a bad fact for Wisdom. She could hear people before she saw them, and desperately wanted to escape the noise of the District before it became to great. Standing, Wisdom gathered her things- putting the books in order of date published before breaking off into a run towards the clinc; as the sounds began to intensify and rattle her already broken brain. Her heart beat fast as the sounds became out of hand- concentration on the task at hand began to diminish when she ran straight into someone. Before Wisdom hit the floor- she flinched and cried out in pain as to her, the collision felt like she had been hit by a car rather than another person.
