There was this girl in District Two that my friends knew but never talked to her or never talked about her. They had their little group of friends and we had ours'. Theirs was significantly different, because although both groups abused certain substances, we abused them for different reasons. Us? We just wanted to have a good time. After all, we're not seventeen forever. But them? I'm not to sure about this, but I think they do it because that's really all they've ever done. For us, it's this exhilarating feeling that's as rare as a blue moon. For them... well they practically take in marijuana as often as the take in the District Two air.
And in that group, there's this girl Charlie. I knew as much about her as I knew about anyone else in the group. And I knew absolutely nothing about anyone in the group. But, I could always tell she had a pretty hard life, you know? Like you can just look at someone and just tell. She really wasn't that pretty, but she had the potential to be. I just feel like she didn't care at all, and that's okay, but I kind of felt bad for her, although I had no reason to.
One day, I confronted her about it. Well, not as much confronting as trying to find out what's wrong.
"I need to talk to you." We were in school at the time, and I was passing her in the hallway. It was a spur of the moment thing, but I couldn't help myself. I've been curious about her long enough, and I thought it was time to find out what was going on. If anything was going on at all.
