Saphires hand aches from where Gordy holds onto it too tightly. She wishes she could make him let go but knows that it will be futile, there's no getting out of this relationship, even if she is unhappy. Unhappily, she makes her way up to the training center where all careers are expected to train for the hunger games no matter what the cost to them is and Saphire is no exception. Her gaze travels around the gym, searching for her older sister Cranberry but she can't find her. Maybe she's just getting changed she thinks. Its wishful thinking though. Cranberry had been allowed to sleep in that morning because she was all caught up on her training whereas Saphire had missed some of hers. She groaned before being released from Gordy's hand and heading towards the change rooms. Once on her own, she strips down and puts on her training geer, allowing herself to take her time because she had all morning to catch up on her training. She sometimes liked having times like this when she could just relax and go easy with her training unlike other days when she had to keep up with the rest of the class. After her gear was on, she knew she couldn't delay anymore, she had to go out and face the day of training.

At first, it wasn't so bad. She and Gordy did some sword fighting and everything was going well until Saphires ex boyfriend showed up. He glared at Gordy, who had his hand entwined with hers and stalked past the two of them towards one of the other stations. Saphire could feel her exes eyes on her for most of the training session that followed.

She judged it to be around 12:30ish when her sister showed up. Sighing in relief, Saphire jogged over to her, smiling because her sister being here meant she could get away from Gordy. "Hi Cran, thank god you're here, I just wat to be rid of him" she says in a low voice so that Gordy wouldn't here. She knew her sister understood her issues and that she could confide in her. She looked back at Gordy who was wandering away towards another station, leaving the two girls alone. "So, sis, how are you?" she asked casually.

Cranberry woke up late in the morning. She had been working hard over the past week, and was happy to be allowed to sleep in for once. She squinted open her eyes, burning from the bright sunlight sneaking through her windows. She forced her eyes shut for a while, turning about, in an attempt to sleep more, but after what felt like hours, she realized it was futile. She sat up, and looked over at her alarm clock. 11:30 AM. She had time before she had to show up for training.

Cranberry stood up, stretching her aching muscles before getting dressed. It wasn't anything fancy, just a t-shirt, blue jeans, and her signature military jacket which she wore everywhere. She slowly made her way downstairs, trying not to trip down to the kitchen from drowziness. Her father was re-watching the Hunger Games finale, not giving any pity towards the poor armless girl. Cranberry fixed herself a bowl of cereal, and watched with him, knowing she had a good hour before she had to actually go. She hoped to avoid conversation. Talking with her father wasn't the best way to start a morning.

It was 12:15. Cranberry knew she was done procrastinating. She left, without saying goodbye to her family, and walked to the Career Training Center. It was a beutiful day out, sunny yet not too hot. She paid no attention to those she passed, but still tried to soak in the warm morning sun. If it wasn't for her fear of being reaped, she would skip training and lay in the sun all day. Once she arrived, she changed into her normal training clothes, with the addition of her jacket. She left the change room, and saw Sapphire running away from Gordy. She glared a hole into Gordy's back, but then looked down at her younger sister, and smiled. She hated Gordy, but still didn't want Sapphire to hate her.

"Hi Cran, thank God you're here, I just want to be rid of him." Cranberry wanted to facepalm at her sisters lack of assertiveness, but held it back to not embarass her. "So, sis, how're you?" "I'm fine, thanks for asking. Have you caught up in your training yet?" Cranberry ended that with another intimidating glare, hoping to get her sister to work. She hated when Sapphire slacked off.

"I'm fine, thanks for asking, have you caught up with you training yet?" always nagging her, training this training that. She just wanted her sister to shut it about training. She knew she was behind with her training, she didn't need it rubbed in her face. "I'm almost caught up alright, jeez, can you just get rid of him please" she pleaded. She didn't want Gordy there for what was sure to be an epic fail when it came to challenging her sister. She wasn't as skilled as her sister when it came to fighting but she was definitely quick. Unable to brag though because she had only beaten her sister once and that had been by pure luck. She'd out manouvered her sister in combat and had gotten behind her. With a quick slash of the sword she'd held in her hand, she'd been able to knock her sisters feet from under her. She smiled at the memory. If only she could beat her sister again.

"I challenge you, Cran, to a dual, the last one standing is the winner" her voice said clearly over the noise of people training and working their body to its limits. Some people landed with what sounded like painful thumps but she didn't pay attention to them, she was too focused on her sister. All around her the room seemed to become charged with tension that was between the two of them. The training center fell silent as they waited for Saphires sister to either accept her challenge or to deny it. Taking a practice swing with the sword, she chopped the head cleanly off a practice dummy that had unfortunately been too close to the sword to have survived. She heard someone whistle but ignored it, she'd fight her sister and would accept the humiliation that would come if she lost. I will not lose the voice and Saphire thought together. She tensed, ready to spring into a fight at any moment.

"You're going to pay for that!" Cranberry makes no attempt at blocking her sisters attack. With the way Sapphire was charging at her, she would only lose her sword, and then the fight. She instead moves off to the side. Her sisters fast running is too much for her tough, and Sapphire's blade cuts deep into her thigh. The cut caused Cranberry to fall to the ground, and her sword dropped, sliding to the other side of the arena. She had no chance of getting the sword, and realized she lost. She smirks with pride, happy at how her sister had grown over the years. The crowd that surrounded them began cheering, most of them seemingly knowing that Sapphire would have won. "Come on, Cran, lets get healed up, alright, you fought well." Cranberry took Sapphire's hand, and left for the nurse.

While going to the medical ward, Cranberry was frustrated to see that Gordy had caught up with them. She would have told him to fuck off again, but was feeling weak from the bloodloss after the fight. She was having trouble keeping weight on her right leg, and needed Sapphire to keep her walking, and felt bad for her when she realized Gordy was on her other shoulder. Though feeling weak, she decided to try congratulating Sapphire. "Great job Saph..." She felt like a wimp for not being able to handle the pain. They arrived at the medical ward when the nurse arrived.

"Let me guess, another fight?" The nurse asked. Sapphire seemed happy to speak for her. The nurse took the two sisters into seperate rooms, as they began treating them. Most of her wounds were simple scratches, and the nurse just wiped the blood off and disinfected them. However, the stab wound in her hand, and the cut on her leg which finished her off, required stitches. She didn't mind, and thought it might make a cool scar. She still required help with walking out of the room, when she went to wait for Sapphire. Unfortunately for her, Gordy was waiting for Sapphire too. He was smart enough to stay away though. Cranberry sat on a bench, at the opposite side of Gordy, as she waited for Sapphire.

Her face stung from where her sisters blade had left a gash in it. She could still feel blood coming out of it but it was starting to ease off. The nurse looked at her face and went to work applying remedies to numb it before pulling out a stitching needle and some heavy duty thread that was used for operations. Saphire didn't like needles but she knew that this would help the wound on her face heal faster. She sat quietly as the nurse began stitching up the gash and only winced when she went outside of the numb area. When the nurse was done, she told Saphire to take it easy for a few days and no combat training until the stitches have fully healed. Don't worry, I won't be training tomorrow anyways she thought, not saying it out loud.

She walked down the hallway towards the waiting area and found her sister waiting for her. She'd needed stitches for the wound on her hand and on her leg. Just as Saphire was about to walk over to her sister to see how she was feeling, she felt a pair of arms wrap around her waist and she looked back to see Gordy. "you fought brilliantly" he said in her ear. She wriggled to get out of his grasp but he wouldn't let her go. "Gordy, can I go see my sister please?" she pleaded. After a few moments he released her and she walked over to her sister, looking down at the stitches. "How are you feeling?" she asked, looking at her sister.

Cranberry heard walking down the hallways. She looked down, to see Sapphire walking towards her, with a few stitches on her cheek. She didn't feel guilty for it, Sapphire should have been prepared for that attack. She did feel angry at Gordy, who had impertinently hugged her. Sapphire was able to wrestle him off eventually, thankfully, and she came over to Cranberry. "How are you feeling?" "I'm fine. Much better now." Cranberry responded, with a slightly more cheery voice than usual. She most definitely was feeling better, other than the embarrasment from feeling so weak from the cut to her leg.

"Good job sis! You're getting much better." Cranberry was very honestly proud of Sapphire for winning. There was just one thing she had to make clear, which she felt amounts of regret for making. "And I suppose you can skip tomorrow. If you're good enough to beat me, you must be doing quite well." Cranberry then remembered the gash on Sapphire's cheek. "That cut will look pretty badass when it scars over. Cranberry hid behind a mask of pride to hide disappointment in herself. She would be sure to train extra hard, especially with a katana, so she wouldn't lose again. She would also train with using one hand. It wasn't unheard of to lose an arm in the Hunger Games.

Cranberry then stood up, swaying slightly from putting too much weight on her leg. "That doesn't mean you can skip training today though!" She didn't care about either of their wounds, or that the nurses told them not to excercise. Nothing would help them in the games like practicing with actual wounds. She then fell over, having put too much weight on her bad leg. "Or maybe we could skip today..." It wasn't often that Cranberry made this deal. She didn't care if Gordy would tease her for this, she couldn't train if she couldn't stand. She stood up carefully, ready to change then probably head home.

She smiled as her sister congratulated her. "That cuts gonna look pretty badass once it scars over" her sister said. She smiled, it would look pretty badass especially if she went into the games with it. Her sister said that, though she could skip tomorrow she couldn't skip today. Saphire grudgingly agreed. Although before they could actually go, her sister tried to get up and put too much weight on her injured leg. She fell to the ground and looked at Saphire. "Or maybe we could skip today.." her sister said. Concern fluttered through her chest for her sister. "Are you sure you're alright, because you don't look alright, here" she said, helping her sister up and putting her sister's arm around her own shoulder to help her walk.

The trip back to their house was slow, Saphire half helped half carried her sister through the door with Gordy trailing behind. Is that boy ever going to leave me alone? she wondered. No, of course not the voice in her head said. She sighed as she put Cran onto the couch and went to find their mom. "Mom, Cran and I are staying here for the rest of the day cuz we just had a fight and Cran got hurt" she called. Her mom replied something but she couldn't hear her so she wandered back into the living room.
