Age: Fifteen
Gender: Male
District/Area: District 6
Appearance:
In fitting with his personality, Solf has long, slick jet black hair he normally keeps tied up in a neat ponytail. His eyes are an unnerving shade of icy blue, and his build is tall and thin. Where he a man of more than modest means, Solf would dress more nicely as he is has a soft spot for formal attire, but things being the way they are, he simply must make due with what few old yet durable articles of clothing he possesses. He is also ghostly pale, with his cold blue eyes being the only colorful objects against the sheet white background of Solf's body. When one dares to gaze directly into Solf's eyes, a feeling of inexplicable coldness runs through them, and you can faintly hear a noise which sounds like eerily like sheet ice breaking against wind.Personality:
Solf has a hook nose, slim eyebrows, and pointed ears, and no matter how well adjusted or polite he seems to act, one can not seem to shake the distant feeling that there is something very off about Solf. He has a wolfish grin and a chin nearly as pointed as his ears, and his face is long and slim, giving his a face an inescapable feeling of inhumanity when his disconcerting eyes are hidden under a hat or other such object. His body is keep in good hygiene, and lacks any real scars, perhaps the one easing quality to his physical appearance, the only one that his gentlemanly conduct must not cover up. His movements are slow and methodical, as if every little action his body takes is planned ten years in advance, and it is rare to find Solf make a movement he had not expressedly intended to make. Yet even so, his reflexes are impressive, able to catch things in free fall quicker than they can hit the ground, yet another unnerving quality to his intangibly sinister yet overtly sophisticated demeanor.
Even in the unyielding and dire world that is the nation of Panem, some people still retain their goodness and pureness, instilling in others a newfound hope for a brighter tomorrow.History:
Solf is not one of those people.
Born a sadistic, incredibly high functioning sociopath unable to feel pain for anyone but himself and completely and utterly incapable of any sort of emotional attachment or empathy, Solf has never pretended to be anyone else but himself his entire life. Apathetic and misanthropic, Solf typically approaches life in a decidedly amoral way, throwing morality and the concept of grey areas to the wind in favor of his decidedly more nihilistic philosophy. A strong believer in survival of the fittest, Solf has a deep seated respect for the strong, and those who stand by their beliefs no matter what, even if those beliefs run contrary to his own, and even views himself as subject to his own philosophy, only all too eager to see if he is strong enough to survive in the hostile world around him.
How does a man who is psychologically incapable of empathy, love, and compassion survive in a society where at least some social cohesion is necessary for mutual survival? Well, for one, Solf is a frighteningly intelligent guy, and even more than that, he is just as manipulative and socially savvy as a complete sociopath needs to be in a functioning human society. Solf knows that most people don't think the way he thinks, see things the way he does, and also knows it would be trouble if anyone ever suspected that. So on the outside, Solf is an eloquent, cultured, and polite young man, aspects of his personality as intrinsic to his being as his total lack of morals and twisted love of violence and causing death and destruction. But Solf is who he is, and does not take kindly to being looked down upon by the so called "morally superior."
As bad as Solf is (although he would never deem to use the word "bad," thereby implying he in any way prescribes to the established system of morality the rest of the remainder of the human race seem to follow,) Solf has a very... strange sense of honor. He cannot stomach hypocrites, and genuinely admires and respects people who stand by what they believe in, no matter the consequences. He is also very self aware, knowing that others would describe him as a total monster while simultaneously shrugging off their criticism. He also prides himself on never lying about who he is, to himself most of all, even if he must hide it for the sake of simple practicality. A philosopher to the last and an adept rhetorician, Solf is extremely capable of defending his viewpoints against the views of others, and tossing aside what someone may or may not think of him, Solf does genuinely take into consideration the worldviews of others, which he is quite legitimately fascinated by.
You'd think the way Solf is would be because of some traumatic childhood experience or through years of sustained abuse and neglect, but you'd be wrong. Really, there is absolutely nothing to differentiate Solf from any other child who was raised normally in District Six except perhaps the way he turned out. Solf has two kind and loving parents he has grown uncharacteristically fond of, and two older brothers he shares a strong, if somewhat icy bond with. No, Solf is simply the way he is because that's simply the way he was born, and for no other particular reason. His life's been a stable one with a relatively (and for the districts, certainly) healthy family lifestyle lacking any real dysfunction.Codeword: Odair
Like any other fifteen year old boy, Solf spends much of his time learning at school, which in his district, isn't at all surprising, and to Solf himself, certainly not at all difficult. Solf is actually a very promising student, able to absorb incredibly vast and complex amounts of information with remarkable ease, and his eidetic memory enables him to never forget a single word he's read or a face he's seen, and the same goes for just about anything he's experienced. There are a great many things about Solf that can be described as frightening, and his memory is, oddly enough, certainly one of them. He is well liked among his piers in spite of the intangible aura of malevolence which pervades him, which is covered up well by his gentlemanly and sophisticated demeanor, Solf being himself keenly aware of how other people expect him to think and behave, so much so that he can quite realistically pretend that he is of perfectly sound mind. His natural intelligence and charisma is all he needs to become an entirely new person, the person the rest of the district (and the rest of Panem,) expect him to be.
But it is not hard to believe that his family, having raised and lived with the boy his entire life, are entirely aware that Solf is psychologically "different" from other children his age. From his love of killing common garden pests (though he would, oddly enough, spare anything that would yield benefit to the garden itself,) to his naturally cold and unfeeling personality, Solf's parents and his brothers quite quickly discovered that Solf was "different," but like any good family, this did not truly matter to them as they still loved him anyways. Solf in turn developed a strange sense of affection for them, eventually deciding to himself that being raised by decent people had a "positive" effect on his personality. And indeed, some of the most redeemable qualities of Solf's personality owe their origin to the kind people who raised him. Solf has often mused to himself that were his family not as loving and supportive as they were, he could have became an absolute monster, an animal without any code or standards whatsoever.
