Age: 12
Gender: Female
District/Area: The Capitol
Appearance:
Leonie is small for her age, and thin. Her skin is a dull pale colour, but she tans in the summer. She has wavy light blonde hair, that cascades down to the middle of her back. It is normally tied into a casual bun, or left completely loose. She has a small scar across her cheek, which is not very visible, but can be noticed if you examine her carefully. She occasionally wears daisy chains in her hair.Personality:
She wears light, loose clothing. Flowing skirts and light tops with soft cardigans. Flat ballet pumps. Most of her clothing is in light colours, such as pale pinks or feeble blues. As she cannot dress herself properly, her mother picks her outfits for her.
Leonie would have been described as stunning, until the accident occurred, leaving her blind and injured. Her eyes are a delicate shade of blue, but have disfigured since. She wears a blindfold covering her eyes at all times. She has three different ones depending on what she is wearing; fuschia, teal and cream. She is not very conscious of how she appears, because of her lack of eyesight.
Leonie is a quiet, shy girl who spends a lot of her time daydreaming quietly to herself. She is good at keeping herself occupied. She is determined to do her best and show that she is not completely weak, but she is very fragile. She is unaware of many of her surroundings, and although she hates it, she has gotten used to it over time.History:
Leonie tries to be kind to everyone, however she is sensitive and takes things to heart. She tends to zone out on people, which can set them off. She is quite whimsical and is a very intelligent girl. She is interested in mythology and astrology. She seems to be a bit wary of reality and loves to imagine. She will imagine many scenarios; her being a confident princess, a gorgeous fairy - everything she can't be.
She likes to imagine what her life would of being like if she wasn't in an accident that made her blind. Would she be more popular? Would she be good at sports? Or would she be able to fulfil her wish of becoming a ballerina? Leonie was elegant and graceful earlier, and had been an amateur at ballet - performing with her classmates.
She is an ambitious girl and dreams some day to be independent. She doesn't like to socialize much, and has barely any friends. And she likes it that way. She is perfectly happy to spend the rest of her days in her imaginary worlds - that is, until she recovers. Even impossible spells "I'm Possible", right?
When she was little, Leonie lived a normal life. Well, close to normal. She was a sweet little girl who liked to read storybooks and dress up and go out shopping with Mummy. She loved dancing and ballet and the stage was her life. She would stand on the stage in her little white tutu doing pirouettes and grand jetes and piles to the hundreds of parents. Her friends would be praised and receive hugs, but her parents would mumble "very good" and then drag her home.Codeword: oDair
Leonie was an intelligent girl. She attended a top school for girls. But one day her parents got a phone call from the teacher, saying that her grades were "exceptional" and that she was an "amazing student", telling them that the boarding school up a few streets was willing to offer her a scholarship. Leonie had skipped the way home; surely she would get praised for THAT, right?! But her parents were irritated. "You were showing off, weren't you? Our daughter is not going to a stupid boarding school, reading stupid science books and studying and wearing those hideous uniforms! I won't be having any of it!" her father yelled at her.
Leonie had cowered down and whispered to her teacher that her parents had told her that she wasn't allowed to go. "Such a shame," the teacher had shook her head, but nothing more was said of it. That was when Leonie learned a vital lesson while living with her parents; keep your head down, don't do anything stupid, always use good manners and always clean up after yourself. Don't disagree. Don't try too hard, don't not try at all.
Ballet was the only thing Leonie was allowed to do that she liked was ballet. She met her best friend there; a solemn girl named Tracey. Tracey wasn't the most exciting person, and thought Leonie's imaginary games were very childish, but she listened and she cared and she kept secrets, and that was what Leonie loved about her.
But that one rainy October day was the worst day of her life. She remembered piling up in the bus with all of the other little girls, all dressed in glimmering ballet attire and cutesy tiaras - on the way to their big show. Leonie's parents weren't coming. Leonie didn't care. She wasn't going to let them ruin her show. This show would be the groups big moment. They were giving out scholarships for a special ballet school. Her parents would accept it, hopefully. Her instructor, Miss Edmunds, was a persistive woman. Surely she'd send them on the right track.
The rain drizzled down and they could here the bus driver cursing from up front, saying that he couldn't drive properly with the weather. Then Miss Edmunds got in on the argument, shouting at him that they were going to be late for the performance if he didn't speed up. Yelling. Screaming. Then a flash of light, a sharp pain in her back, a whirl of colours, then plain black. They were the last things Leonie would ever see. Then she woke up on a cold hospital bed with blood on the sheets. Leonie was declared blind and wasn't allowed to go to school anymore, or even do ballet. Two girls died; one of them being Tracey. Leonie was devastated. Tracey became one of her imaginary friends. In all honesty, Leonie really did believe that Tracey had come back; resuming her role of her best friend once more. Several other girls were injured; one was paralyzed from the waist down, but all other injuries were minor and the rest of the girls could function normally and continue their lives as usual.
Leonie now spends most of her time with her au pair/assistant Tabitha. She is influenced by her parents, who wish she wasn't an invalid. They are ashamed at her joy in mythology and her oddness. She is constantly scolded for zoning out. They sigh and make tutting sounds as she has to be spoonfed by her au pair/assistant, Tabitha. They are ashamed of her. She tries to hide away. Some days she will sit in her room, trying to imagine what it looked like. Mainly, she just plays her imaginary games. But there is one thing she constantly tells herself; "One day, I will get better. I will see again. I will be able to go to school; I will go to that lovely boarding school. I will do ballet and perform on the stage in front of thousands of people. I will be happy again. One day..."
