THE LION THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE
THE PLOT
[/size][/font][/color]Many years ago, two young lovers in District Twelve sought fortune and wealth. They were ambitious, with bright minds and shining futures - the children of reasonably successful business owners. Neither of them quite knew poverty, but they understood it enough to manifest a desperation to do as well for themselves as possible. When Winter fell into the hands of the girl, she jumped at the chance to prosper. At first, he resisted, but soon the tiny white pills began to sell quickly. Within ten years, they had become as bountiful as they had always wished - the undercover drug empire spanning the District and taking the most of honest of miners into it's clutches.
It was only after eleven years that the man first lifted a capsule to his lips and felt the true power of Winter coarse through his veins - cold as ice and inescapable. Over the years, he had lost his burning desire for success - pleading with the cold woman he had once loved did nothing to convince her that ending their affair with power was an idea to be entertained. He left her, falling for a quiet girl with no dreams beyond her own four walls, pretty enough, and devoted to him completely. The Witch he left behind insisted that he continue to aid her despite this, and for years he spent lying and working to disentangle himself from the empire he has created.
His children were born, and as they grew he became more and more determined to flee the now cruel and cold Witch and her twisted grasp upon his life. He gathered the forces he needed to reveal the underground chambers and workings of Winter. At least, he thought he did. When he made his move, she reacted effortlessly, and he was avoxed for his involvement. His children grew without knowledge of the world their father had died trying to overthrow and the kingdom he had built. The Witch grew more twisted - developing punishment doses that paralysed the dependant customers and setting up spies to make sure she was not being deceived again.
It is only when the youngest of his children stumbled through the back of his old closet into the dirt passageway dug out behind the wall that things begin to go wrong. From there, she climbs down into the cellars and begins to discover a world in which there is always Winter and never Christmas.
THE CHARACTERS
[/size][/font][/color]Peter Peverell [eighteen] played by Zoe.
As the eldest, Peter feels as though it is his duty to make sure his siblings are safe. He's skeptical, and very hesitant to act at times, mostly due to his fear of his family getting hurt. He's incredibly brave, and works hard to be fair and kind - although these traits often cause him to be overprotective and uninteresting to the younger two. Peter has a strong moral compass and finds it hard to watch events play out before his eyes without interfering. The boy sees the value in knowledge and yet struggles to retain facts and figures - a downfall he is incredibly self conscious about. He's a hard worker, although at times acts without thinking.
[Suggested faceclaim: William Eustace.]
Susan Peverell [sixteen] reserved for Stare.
Susan is logical and incredibly stubborn, with an irritating habit of being right. She's caring and kind, although often scornful of childish fantasies. She has trouble believing anything that seems unlikely - preferring to base all of her ideas in facts and figures. She's clever and creative, and unafraid of using her quick tongue in almost any situation. Although slightly snarky at times, Susan is fiercely protective of her entire family and incredibly determined. When faced with situations she cannot fully understand, or information she cannot decipher, she loses her calm resolve. She's reliable and stable, a great source of comfort for both Lucy and Edmund.
[Suggested faceclaim: ]
Edmund Peverell [fifteen] played by Lei.
Edmund is mischievous and cheeky, with the nerve to say almost anything that passes his mind. He possesses a rude and sometimes downright nasty streak that none of the other children find in their nature; but he rarely loses control. He's also stubborn and determined in his own pursuits - sarcasm comes easily to him. Beneath his slightly more reserved exterior, he cares greatly for his family. He's easily jealous and sometimes greedy - in some ways, he displays some of the traits that landed his father in the throws of Winter. Although his ideas of morality are not always quite on track with the others, he's humorous and caring and ends up doing the right thing in the end.
[Suggested faceclaim:Simone Nobili.]
Lucy Peverell [fourteen] played by Clover.
Lucy is kind and caring, if naive at times. She's often teased by her siblings about the 'make believe' games she still likes to play - however, she's good-natured and forgiving. She's sensitive and easily upset. Witnessing injustice or unkind things disturbs her, and she's eager to help anybody in trouble. She's easily convinced and manipulated. Her willingness to provide aid often leads her into danger. Lucy has a love for animals and people alike - she dislikes being alone and always has a kind word to say. She's a little shy, but friendly.
[Suggested faceclaim: Elle Fanning.]
Vertumnus Faun [seventeen] played by Elegant.
Skittish and cautious, Vertumnus became involved in Winter at a young age. Like many other teenagers in Twelve, his parents became part of the organisation in an effort to provide for their family, and he grew up knowing about the dangers of his situation. After a close call when he was small, he's incredibly hesitant to speak lest he say the wrong thing. His first reaction usually involves self-preservation, but after that fleeting moment he makes a deliberate effort to be kind. He's jittery, and talks with a stutter.
[Suggested faceclaim: ]
Maugrim Callifrey [eighteen] reserved for Tristen.
Maugrim is cold and singleminded. He rarely acts on whims, and works everything through in his selfish mind before executing his plans. He has a take-no-prisoners approach which extends to everything he does - he often over-dramatizes situations and enjoys seeing fear in his victims eyes. As one of the Witch's henchpeople, he is the one to deliver threats and punishments. Power is important to him, and Maugrim's icy maliciousness stood out to Judis and reminded her of herself at eighteen - the year she stumbled upon her first dose of Winter. He also has a little-known obsession with dolls which stretches to the rosy cheeks and blonde curls of the youngest Peverell child.
[Suggested faceclaim: ]
Cresta Hart [fifteen] open.
It would be easy to mistake Cresta for the perfect servant. She runs errands and delivers threats perfectly, imposing and strong. She's obedient - without the streaks of blinding free-will Maugrim sometimes shows. Below all this, however, she's not acting out of loyalty. She's afraid, and will gravitate to the highest power and serve them willingly as it suits her fancy. She's flighty, unreliable and untrustworthy and works to save her own skin above all else. This said, she doesn't have much initiative and likes to be following orders rather than trying to forge a plan herself.
[Suggested faceclaim: Merethe Hopland.]
Erinne Beaver [sixteen] played by Willow.
Erinne is levelheaded and serious. She's the stern carer of her younger brother, as her parents work full time to support their addiction to Winter. She resents the drug and the Witch, and refuses to take it herself. In order to avoid Rowan taking tessera, she agrees to spy for Jadis. She's incredibly calm and doesn't jump to conclusions quickly. Although she has almost no sense of humour, Erinne is kind and incredibly caring.
[Suggested faceclaim: Melody Farley.]
Rowan Beaver [thirteen] open.
Rowan is cheeky and mischievous. His inability to keep secrets of any kind led his parents to shelter him from Winter - if he were to speak of anything outside their walls Jadis would ruin each of them. Instead, the incredibly inquisitive and curious boy took to wandering the underground tunnels and abandoned mine shafts in search of information and biscuits. He's childish and foolish, however good-natured and well-meaning. He adores his sister despite her reluctance to answer his myriad of questions.
[Suggested faceclaim: ]
Judis Arrivay [30/40+ years old?] reserved for Shrimp.
Judis was always cold and manipulative. She was not fully capable of love, but when the powerful, influential man she had grown to depend on left her for another she worked hard to make sure the threats were strong enough to hold him close to her for always. After all, he had so much to lose. She enjoys watching people suffer - developing a dosage of Winter that paralyses it's takers and leaves them trapped in their own mind for hours is her favourite of punishments. It drives them crazy - her perfect, beautiful statues, almost cold to the touch. She's afraid of growing old and struggles to conserve her beauty.
. . . .
Aslan Peverell [NPC]
The father of the children, Aslan was once incredibly greedy and vain. For many years, he thought he loved Jadis, and they ran Winter together in harmony, glad of the riches they had gained. It was only when he took his first pill many years later that he realised what a terrible thing he had done. His efforts to convince Jadis of their cruelty only led him to believe she too was a mistake. By then, he was too entangled in Winter to leave. He fell in love with a Seam girl and after the birth of his first child, Peter, spent the next sixteen years plotting the downfall of Winter from within. When he finally set his plans into motion, Jadis revealed that her spies had left her ready and waiting. He was avoxed and taken away.
Helen Peverell [NPC]
The innocent wife of Aslan never did know about her husbands dark second life. She suspected, of course, but she trusted that he was keeping her safe by neglecting to tell her the details. She loved her children dearly, however, after Aslan was taken away she grew reserved and wound up in her own guilt. She hated herself for not begging him to stop whatever it was that he was doing when he left the house late at night - hated herself for not pressing him with questions. She refuses to believe the crimes Jadis set him up for - crimes that were in truth not too far from reality - and assures her children, in that incredibly far-away tone of hers, that he was an innocent man.
