Hefin Pryce - District 7

Hefin stands at a slender five foot, seven inches. He is thin, almost underweight even, giving him an occasionally gaunt appearance. He has a runner’s body, clearly one for flight over fight, with strong legs and steady feet. His upper body seems to lack as much toning. His shoulders are relatively broad, tapering down into a narrow waist.

His dirty blonde hair is rarely styled or concerned with, generally only cut to keep it from his eyes. It seems, though, despite its neglect, to have a natural curl to it, allowing it to grow a fair length before falling into his view. Forest green eyes stand out against his pale-ish complexion, often over dark bags that indicate a general lack of sleep. His features are sharp, with a strong nose and high cheekbones. His lips are fairly thin but afford him a warm, friendly smile when occasion calls for one. On his chin, is a faded scar so old that he forgot its source long ago.

He is rarely seen outside of a pair of hardy boots and a pair of fingerless gloves.

On the surface, Hefin is a nervous, mumbling and generally rather quiet wimp. Underneath the surface? Yeah, more or less the same. A deep thinker, it’s not unusual to find him scribbling away at some idea or new theory. A smart boy, Hefin has never been completely comfortable with his intelligence. He works hard but occasionally struggles due to an unwillingness to ask for help. He is a quick learner, preferring to tackle things practically with a trial and error approach before coming up with solutions based on his findings.

Very quiet, he keeps to himself. Hefin is, for all accounts and purposes, a push-over. Very rarely will you see him standing up to someone and, as a result, he ends up taking a lot of abuse in silence. He prefers to avoid confrontation whenever possible. That’s not to say that he won’t speak up for something he believes in… it just means that he has to build himself up in order to do so.

With more confidence, it’s clear that the thoughtful and eloquent boy would be right at home as a teacher, something he aspires to but he doubts it possible due to a lack of support from his parents.

He grew up, almost entirely, a mummy’s boy; not that he’d let you know (save if you said a bad word about her.) He places huge amounts of pressure on himself about succeeding in order to please his father. Constantly fearing his weakness will disappoint his dad, Hefin often overexerts himself to try and impress.

Insecure and self-effacing, Hefin’s main goal is that of all ambitious youths; to succeed and be liked.

Born to Ioan and Edith Pryce, a woodsman and his wife, in the heart of District 7, Hefin has always been the wrong side of the poverty line. That isn't to say, however, that they've always gone without, as his mother is very good at bartering, offering her skills as a seamstress in exchange for additional food/goods.

Since he was fairly young, like a lot of kids from District 7, he'd found himself fairly at home in the forest and would often work with his father at home on carpentry and whittling.

His parents have always been fairly over-protective; his father lost a sibling to the Games in his youth. Hefin, though, unlike most kids who might fight for a bit of freedom and space, sort of crumbled and instead has become gradually less confident as his parents prevent him from getting out there and growing up.

Over the years he's been lucky enough not to be reaped and his parents are insistent that they don't buy any tesserae to increase his chances.
