Name: Kaius Miles Idriss
Age: Sixteen
Gender: Male
District: Seven
Appearance;
Tall for his age, Kaius is six feet and still growing. He probably won’t grow that much more in his life, but he will still grow some. He’s an imposing figure…if you’re basing that on height alone. Otherwise, he’s a stick, basically. There is muscle on him. Years of carrying heavy loads of lumber tend to cause that to happen, but it isn’t obvious, and he isn’t really all that strong, mostly because he spent most of his time falling and tripping over himself and other things instead of you know…actually working. It isn’t for a lack of wanting to work…he’s just really goddamn clumsy. Kaius would trip over a crack in the sidewalk if given the chance.
His skin is pale, mainly from not getting enough sun. As a result, he doesn’t tan well when he does get out into the sun. If anything, he burns horribly first, which results in lengthy and painful sunburn for the unfortunate boy. Most of his height is in his legs...though; everything about him from his legs to his arms and fingers is lengthy. All in all, he’s a pretty awkward looking boy, all lanky, thin limbs and towering, flat torso. He’ll probably fill out when he gets older, but for now it’s something he has to deal with, as are the numerous scars that litter his body. Having to work very closely with hatchets and axes for someone as perpetually clumsy as Kaius means he gets hurt a lot. He’s a lucky shit though, seeing as he hasn’t actually killed himself from falling on an axe, or aiming a hatchet the slightly wrong way.
When you get hurt as much as he does, and have to work around sharp objects, you learn to compensate…some. He still gets hurt quite often.
Kaius’ hair is dark brown, feathery and just above his shoulders in length. It’s usually swept over his eyes in a natural arc that frames his vibrant brown eyes. They’re a striking part of him, unfortunately, they show his distinct lack of emotion most of the time…this kid has pretty effective ‘bedroom eyes’. His face, overall, is pretty thin. Though, he has full lips and a large nose and distinctive freckles across his cheek.
Personality;
Despite the fact that he’s clumsy and apathetic most of the time, Kaius isn’t an easy person to figure out. This is because he doesn’t talk a lot…to anyone. Unless someone has the opportunity to really get to know him, he’s pretty quiet. Some people might think him mute for all he talks. When he does talk, it’s never about himself. Kaius’ past is a thing of mystery, and it takes really getting to know him to find out where the kid came from. If he knows someone well, he’ll talk to them, but he will usually veer the conversation to being about them, or about stupid stuff that doesn’t really matter. Like everyone, Kaius has his own demons, and he’d really rather keep them to himself. Admitting that something is wrong is a sign of weakness, and above all, he isn’t weak.
He’s at his quietest when he’s alone. He zones out and is so pensive that he can be called brooding. He usually isn’t alone much, because he prefers to surround himself with people. While this distracts him from his own thoughts, he’d rather disappear in a group than stand out. This is helped by his quietness, but not by his height. Whether he wants to or not, Kaius stands out by virtue of being a tall boy. He’ll usually stay quiet, listening to others so he doesn’t have to think about his own problems. It’s easy to make him smile, but it will rarely ever be a real smile. Kaius isn’t a tortured soul and he doesn’t have a pained existence…he simply…doesn’t really care. The boy has this air of apathetic detachment about him. This doesn’t make him a bad person…he’s simply aloof so he doesn’t hurt others, and on a subconscious level, so he doesn’t get hurt himself.
Kaius doesn’t run from a fight. He’s been born and bred to stick out confrontations. The boy isn’t afraid at all to speak his mind if he needs to, and when wronged, he might be a little to eager to defend his own honor and the honor of those close to him. He isn’t a great fighter, at all…since he’s mostly limbs…but he’s a scrappy kid and he’s surprisingly quick on his feet and agile, so he tends to us that against brute strength. His endurance isn’t great, but he hopes he can quickly end a fight before high endurance is even needed.
Befriending him isn’t difficult. He is eager to belong, and while he’s quiet and reserved, he thirsts for acceptance. He tends to trust a little too easily, something he hasn’t quite been able to wean away from his childhood personality, as such, he isn’t easily hurt by transgressions. At least, he won’t show it if he is. Kaius is extremely easy going and laid back. True betrayal doesn’t happen often, and when it does, he’ll usually end up laughing it off. If you’re close to him and he trusts you with his life, you might be able to make him smile. When Kaius really, truly smiles, his entire being seems to light up.
History;
Kaius’ family is a subject better not brought up. He didn’t have a terrible childhood, but it’s just something he’d rather not talk about all the time. His father’s name is Varian, and his mother’s name is Adeana. Varian is a ruthless man and rules his family with an iron fist. He doesn’t abuse his children or wife, but just because they know better than to stand against him. Varian is a powerful, stocky man practically build to work with lumber. He’s much stronger than Kaius will ever hope to be. His mother, on the other hand, stays at home with the children. And there are many children. Three bo man practically build to work with lumber. He’s much stronger than Kaius will ever hope to be. His mother, on the other hand, stays at home with the children. And there are many children. Kaius has two brothers and two sisters.
His older brothers, Unnac and Reel, are almost just like their father. They’re squat, stocky boys with their mother’s fair hair and they tend to bully others rather than let others get their way. Kaius’ sisters are Leana and Mara. Leana is stocky with her father’s dark hair and disposition. This is why the two boys and Leana get along with their father so well, and they all treat their mother with a cool disdain. Mara and Kaius are different. Mara is more like their mother than anyone would like, and Kaius constantly finds himself having to defend his sister from his other siblings, who tease her constantly. As a result, Kaius is closest to his younger sister than he is anyone in his family.
Other than his eccentric family, Kaius’ life isn’t really noteworthy. He started working with lumber, like the rest of his siblings (aside from Mara, who prefers to help her mother with the home), at a very young age. The boy was practically born with a hatchet in his hand…of course he promptly fell over and cut himself on said hatchet. He’d always been teased for his complete lack of anything resembling balance and the fact that he was constantly getting hurt, but Kaius had this uncanny ability of letting insults roll off of his back with a laugh and a joke. Not a lot seems to get to him, which is probably a good thing, because he gets teased a lot.
There isn’t much in his life that stands out that much. With so many children, the family has always made enough to get by. They’ve always had enough food, and while they might not live ‘comfortably’, they’ve never had to go without, and Kaius, for the most part, has done a remarkable job of keeping his head down despite his considerable height.
