Eden is the kind of girl people stare at. She's quite tall, and skinny, due to all the years she spent training among the careers. Her skin is smooth, and pale. Her face is bony, in a gracious way. Her eyes are of a hard blue, and her lips are reddish, often smiling. Her only hang-up is her freckles, though people are more likely to find that attractive. Eden loves swimming more than anything. Every day at 5, she raises her long, dark hair into a ponytail and jumps into the sea. Another reason that makes her physically strong, even though she looks thin and childish.
Eden's parents are as wealthy as you can get in District 4. That gave Eden a weakness for beautiful clothes. She loves skinny pants and loose shirts and large sweaters and cute boots or sandals or sneakers. She likes prints, and her fashion philosophy is "mix and match": that's because she makes her outfits by mixing different styles: for example, a biker jacket with a white lace dress, or a sparkly evening dress with a sport sweater.
Eden is considered by all as a good little girl. She has never been annoying or difficult, and she has always had a fairly big amount of friends. You could say she is shy...Elitist would be more precise. She hardly gives her trust: she needs time for that. Even though she likes to keep a distance with people she doesn't know that well, she is particularly honest.
If Eden had been born with a manual, it would have said "Handle with care": it is so easy to make her upset ! She always wants everything to be perfect. However, she is not as cold as she looks ! She is actually very caring, and sensible, and if she considers you as her friend, it's forever.
Having been trained as a Career, Eden has often wondered what she would be like in the arena. She didn't want to be like the other Careers, killing every living creature that gets too close and making sure to make a good show out of it. No. This just wasn't her. She regularly had nightmares about the arena. She always saw herself fighting with knifes, throwing them and lashing out with them because they were her favorite weapons. With knives, she could hit hard to make it quick. She didn't want to admit it, but she did love the feeling of having a knife in her hand. She did love training, because of the adrenaline she felt when simulating a fight or throwing knives at a dummy. She thought she had a fairly good chance to win the Games at 18, but even the thought of it made her sick.
Maybe the reason why Eden has such a complex personality is because she was not meant to live. This is why she wants her life to be outstanding: she was a mistake. Let me take you 14 years ago...
There was nothing she could do but cry. The tears covered her cheek, ran over her lashes, her lips. She pressed the tiny little body against her chest, letting her despair overwhelm her silently. She still couldn't believe she had made such a pretty little thing. But she was so young, so young...She had made a mistake...Had she, really ? The tears flowed again, and she carried on walking in the fresh spring breeze, holding her new-born girl against her as if some criminal was waiting to take her from her arms. She ran. The tears continued to flow, and she ran. She had made up her mind. She wasn't good enough for the little thing in her arms. She had spent days choosing the right family, until she found the Crawley's. They seemed like such an honest, good family. They would be perfect for her little girl. She stooped in front of a pretty beach house. The sun was setting already, as she hugged her child against her one last time. Then, she stopped crying, kissed her on the forehead, and carefully placed her in front of the door. She felt so peaceful suddenly. She watched her baby, who was calmly staring at her, and suddenly left her. She had made the right choice. Her baby would be happy.
Eden grew up as any member of the Crawley family, which includes Aaron, 17, and Will, 15. She was actually very happy in her district. She swims every day and sees her friends and spends quality time with her family. Her parents allowed her to train among the Careers, because she insisted on it. She said it was to see what she could do, to see if she was a real survivor, but they all know she's just scared her name will be taken out of the glass ball. Ever since she was old enough to watch the Games with the others, she secretly feels the deepest hatred for the Capitol.
