where there is a flame
someone's bound to get burned

My knife whizzes through the quiet forest air and embeds itself into the trunk of a huge pine tree. My aim is getting much better, even better than before I was a wanderer. I retrieve the blade out of the poor tree and wipe it off, no sense in letting it rust, its the only one I have. I put it into my bag and start walking. Where exactly I'm going, I have no idea but anywhere is better than my current location, which is right outside of District 6. I'd had a bad cut on my shoulder from a run in with some mutts and had had to get some stitches. They throb slightly at the thought and I wince. Deal with it, Drak, its just a small wound I tell myself.[/size][/blockquote]
The moon casts a silvery glow on the entire forest as I walk, giving me enough light to see clearly by. My feet are silent on the forest floor as I move and my senses are on high alert for any signs of life. The forest seems void of life though, barely even a wind blows through the tree tops. It's eary and kind of scary. Quit being such a wuss I tell myself harshly, biting my tongue. Pain flashes through my tongue and its a satisfying way of punishing myself. I continue to walk, no longer looking for food but for somewhere to camp. I haven't eaten in a few days and my strength is starting to give out. If I don't find something to eat soon, I will die.
I'm still walking when suddenly, a rabbit, the first one I've seen in days, darts across my path. I kill it quickly with my knife and retrieve the kill. Well, its food I think as i look at how skinny the creature is. It won't last very long but I guess it will have to do. I skin it and decide to make camp right there, its hidden from all around and above so theres no chance of anyone finding me.
I start up a small fire and roast the meat over it. Once it's done, I pull it off the spit and bite into a leg. The meat is sinewy but its the first food I've had in days so it tastes delicious. I finish the legs and save the rest of the rabbit for later. Then I set up a shelter. Its not my best shelter but it will suffice for tonight. Rolling out my sleeping bag, I curl up in it and fall into a dreamless sleep.
I wake the next morning to the sound of footsteps. I open my eyes and sit up. the worst thoughts are running through my head. What if it's the peace keepers That would be very bad. I pear out of the tent and see a figure walking around who doesn't look like a peace keeper. I decide it should be alright to call out to them. "Good morning" I say cheerfully.
