Age: 16
Gender: Male
District/Area: District 8
Appearance:
Big, brown eyes filled with emotion. His dreamiest feature. His pride. And whta he feels to be his gift. His hair is brown and thick. Short, but not short enough as to see his scalp. His bangs wisp down onto his forehead. To the touch it is soft and smooth. In one word; luscious. His face is smooth, never roughened by facial hair. Never a blemish or mark. Untouched. His eyebrows are thick above his eyes, a bit burly. His lips are a light shade of pink, often squiggled in a smile or grin. The cleft in his chin helps add effect to the dimples in his face when he smiles. His ears are are pierced and he always wears a large, sparkling stud in each ear. Sadly his ears are unhearing. Deaf. His voice is deepened and has an adam's apple to prove it. His nose has a sharp bridge and runs straight from his head. A sharp jaw and cheek bones, muscles rippling through them, complete his look.Personality:
Griffin stands about 5'10" tall, making him taller than most children his age. His skin is lighter than most kids around him, considering he doesn't get out in the sun much. He is virtually untouched by the elements. He has a slender build and a toned look which gives the illusion that he is strong, but he really has no experience with any heavy lifting. Soft hands, usually sticky with ink, paint, or marker, are the hands of an artist an author. He is always carrying around a sketchbook and has a pencil or pen in his pocket.
Because his mother works off in the Capitol as a designer, Griffin is priveleged with all the new styles of clothing. He is easily on of the most fashionable kids around, maybe a bit flashy, though. He has a fascination with white clothing though, as he finds it eye-catching and bright.
Great sense of humor and jokful.History:
If anyone ever really got to know Griffin they would find he has a great sense of humor. He knows how to make others laugh and enjoy themselves even without a voice. He loves messing around with you, making a big joke of either himself or you ... All in good fun of course!
Understanding and emotional.
Griffin understands. He knows, even if he can't hear your voices' sorrow or elatedness, if you take the time to use your hands to tell him or write down your feelings he will feel your feelings too. And besides, he isn't blind. He is a great at reading of body language.
Expressive and unique.
Griffin is a very unique person. Her knows how to express himself and make himself stand out from any other guy. Being a great artist makes it easy to be expressive and imaginative. He is always thinking up something beautiful and unique in his head.
Thoughtful and passionate.
Griffin would make a great friend. He is a very thoughtful person. he will remember your birthday and draw you a card. He would be the one to show up first if you were hurt. He is the sweet kind of guy who cares about most everyone. He learned at an early age that the way he feels everyday (lost and alone) doesn't have to be extended to other people, so he will make sure you have the best life you can. Live it better than him.
Isolated and lost.
The one thing Griffin doesn't understand is his place in the world. A deaf person just has no use in the world. right? And because almost no one takes the time to talk to him, Griffin is isolated with those thoughts in his head. Sadly, this makes Griffin a person who has suicidal thoughts often. Lost in a world where hearing helps you survive and succeed in the world, that's Griffin.
Smart and problem-solver.
If Griffin weren't inquistive or intelligent he would pretty much be dead. He enjoys reading and learns everything he knows from books and dictionaries. When he isn't drawing, he is reading. Because Griffin is not only imaginative but inquistive as well, he makes for a great problem-solver. He knows how to manage through tough situations and is great at thinking up different ways to sign for those around him that cannot comprehend his language.
Griffin Brayden Edwards.Codeword: odair
Born August 4th.
His father, Harry Edwards, and his mother, Freschita Jangle, weren't expecting a child and therefore had no more children and aren't married. Freschita left when Griffin was 2 years old, moving back to the Capitol. She loves him dearly but cannot stand that he is deaf and so, left.
His father remained back though, working as a factory line worker in a nearby textile industry. It gets Griffin and hime by, but it isn't exactly a glamourous life. But at least Griffin gets along better because of the generous donations and gifts from his mother. He knows that she still cares.
Griffin has still had his own hardships being deaf and all. School was a bore and absoulutely terrible when it came to answering any questions or talking to anyone. The gestures he made either scared them off or irritated them. Although Griffin studies books on different languages, particularly American Sign Language, it is useless when no other person studies it. Griffin has only been able to communicate with anyone patient enough to play charades and his father, who learned the language with him. Occasionally Griffin will write his thoughts and what he wants to say to others to communicate, but it is hard to get others attention that way. Most won't pay attention.
Because Griffin has never been able to hear, he embraces seeing. He is a great artist. He enjoys drawing people, landscapes, and pretty much anything he sees. He also likes writing calligraphy. He has perfected his artistry since he could use a pencil, pen, or paintbrush making his work quite good and inspiring.
Because of his impairment, Griffin usually stays inside the safety of his house or the fa-off and empty fields in District 8. He doesn't work and isn't always much of a help when he does try to work anyway. His father lets him stay home and most townspeople don't mind anyway, only feeling pity for him.
Because no one ever takes the time to pay ant attention to Griffin, almost no one knows who the real him is. Sure people care for him because they no he is deaf but they won't listen. They just can't hear the silence that is him.
