Cassandrine Mendoza [District 9]

Cassandrine is an average sized girl, all things considered. She is curvy, standing at about 5'4" and weighing in at 130 pounds. Her hair is long, hanging to mid way below her chest and waist, and is medium brown in colour, with the occasional streaks of red depending on how the light hits it. Though many people would envy her long locks, she herself thinks her hair too thin, and would love to find a way to thicken it up and make it darker. Her eyes are brown and almond shaped, another complaint of hers - she rather envies the round eyed girls of her district.
Occasionally she wears cats eye glasses- something she hates and can mostly do without. For the most part, she can see without them; some things are slightly blurrier; the main problem she has is reading things from a distance such as signs.
Again, most of her body is rather average in appearance and proportions, she just tends to find fault.
As for clothing, if possible, Cassandrine likes to find things that flatter her body. She is rather picky, although she can't always afford to be; therefore she saves her special clothes for when she goes out to an event - at home she will wear loose, less fitting clothing.

As from reading the Appearance section, one could tell Cassandrine is as vain as any District 1 girl ever was. She is constantly going back and forth between alternately loving and hating herself. Other girls she has a problem with. She will compare herself to them continuously, even if it is only an internal dialogue no one else can hear. She is always looking for ways to make herself appear "better" than someone she competes against- which is most of the girls in District 9. She always must be the best looking girl, getting the most attention.

Cassandrine has a competitive edge, which manifests itself mainly in how many men she can attract. Towards the opposite sex, Cassandrine can be extremely suggestive and persuasive, flirtatious, once she knows she has them in her court. Usually, she is good at picking up cues from people, and can tell if they aren't interested, but if they are, she will take the opportunity and pounce on it. Again, she must be the best- the most attractive, the most intelligent, etc etc, which is how her competitiveness shows.

Cassandrine is rather intelligent and quiet, though, the quietness is mainly due to thinking. She overthinks many things before she actually does them, always trying to find the best option. Her quietness is what tends to attract people to her - until you really get to know her, you don't see the competitiveness, and she seems to be a quiet, thoughtful girl; a daydreamer.

Though Cassandrine can be extremely generous and kind to those she cares about, you need to be very lucky to make this list. She does not trust easily, and tends to think other people are rather stupid and beneath her intelligence level; another reason she might appear to be quiet at times.

Cassandrine grew up in a family with twin sisters Andra and Kiri, two years her junior and her father. Her mother had died giving birth to the twins; her father worked in a venison storehouse until it closed; ten years ago he took a new place in a factory that manufactures soaps, in which he is in charge of training some of the new hires. She tends to not be close to her family; her father did not want children to begin with and tends to view it as a burden to feed them all, especially as one of her younger sisters [Kiri] is blind and needs constant help. Andra resents her twin, causing many conflicts between the sisters. As much as possible, Cassandrine prefers to be away from home, unless she can find a few quiet moments with Kiri; the only family member she really connects with.

Though not quite as poor as some of the other districts, 9 certainly is not the richest. Her family lives in a very modest house; two bedrooms with a bathroom, kitchen and living room. As someone who trains new people, her father has some connections with Peacekeepers- enough to keep them from living in squalor, not enough to keep them particularly wealthy. He's a huge suck up to the Peacekeepers- one of the things Cassandrine can't stand about her father.

Cassandrine devours books wherever she can find them, though they can be few and far between. Her teacher in school realized she had an aptitude for reading and began giving her books from a young age - mainly books sent from the Capitol. Though she hates reading their view of things and wishes she could get a balanced, two views, she infers what she can. Through her reading, Cassandrine has learned much of history, and many other things - a little of this, a little of that.

As any older girl, Cassandrine is finished with school and spends most of her time back at the schoolhouse anyway, helping the younger students. She loves children and sharing whatever knowledge she can, though mostly in the form of singing and story telling to the smallest ones.
