Name: Thalia Rose
Age: 15
Gender: Female
District/Area: District 8
Appearance:
Thalia has sleek brown hair that falls down to the middle of her back, though it always sticks up slightly at the top and will never lay flat. She usually wears it in a long french braid down her back, tied at the end with a tattered yellow ribbon. She has dark tan skin, though she always has a reddish tint to her cheeks as if she were sunburned. She has rather large ears for her small face, though she does her best to hide them behind her hair which doesn't usually help at all. You can still see the red scars along her back, though she covers most of them up. Her eyes are a striking gold, that are always gleaming with laughter and happiness, gaurding the sadness that threatens to fill them.Personality:
Thalia is a very skinny girl. All of her clothes hang loosely on her slender frame, though she does her best to make them smaller. She is shorter than most of the girls her age, standing at a 4'9''. Despite her ugly scars that stretch across her skin, and her skinny and small size, Thalia is considered pretty in her district. Though a lot of girls do, Thalia does not care about her appearance, for she has no one to impress.
To others, Thalia is a difficult kid to understand. One minute it's endless talking, then rare moments of silence, and sometimes sadness is etched across her usually lively face. Sometimes, in the cotton fields, people can hear the soft melody of a song coming from her. Singing is calming to Thalia when she feels as if she is going to break from holding in her grief for so long, or when she is getting too hyper for others to handle.History:
Thalia can also be rather annoying, with her endless talking and laughing. She is extremely hyper, and always has to be doing something. She always tries to make others feel better, and to brighten the mood in a dark situation. Though no one know it, at night she is overcome with the memories of her past, bringing tears to her eyes that are usually filled with joy. She prefers not to show this depressing side to others, for she always likes to show a positive attitude.
Despite the consequences, Thalia always finds a way to slip away from the cotton fields to fulfill her sudden urges to be around nature. She found a hole under the fence that she can fit under, and secretly finds a calm spot outside of the district. She knows very many things about nature from her mom. She loves to be surrounded by the fresh air of the forrest and the trees, and finds it comforting to be away from the Peacekeeper's prying eyes.
Like many people throught the districts, Thalia has had a hard and difficult past. Her mother,Grace, looked extrememly similiar to Thalia, and also had the same interests. She always had to brighten others moods, putting others before herself, and also had to be around nature. Grace would always slip away, often bringing Thalia to tag along with her into the forrest, where Grace taught her about everything from the insects in the dirt to the trees towering above them. Thalia can still remember the sound of her voice as she taught her and reassured her that they wouldn't be found, but of course it didn't remain that way. Grace was seen slipping into the forrest by a Peacekeeper, and was immediatly brought back to the District Square to be whipped. Thalia still has the scars that stretch along her back and cheek from where she leaped between the Peacekeeper and Grace. She can still remember the horrible pain that one lash brought, followed by many others until she was finally pulled back into the weeping crowd. Her mother died shortly afterwards when Thalia was only five.Codeword: Odair
Thalia's dad, Phelan, left shortly after Grace was killed, overcome by grief. Thalia still sees him in the streets, each time bringing back a different memory that always fills her with rage or sadness. The clearest of all memories happened a year after Grace's death. Thalia was walking down the street, doing a favor for one of her friend's mom. That was when she saw her father hand-in-hand with another woman, who slightly resembled her mother. Thalia immediatly filled with joy and ran towards Phelan, calling out his name happily until he stretched out his muscular arm and pushed her away "I think you have the wrong person.." was all that he said before walking away without one glance back. Ever since then, he can never meet Thalia's eyes, as if he were ashamed of what he had done that night, which he should.
Thalia was left in the hands of her mom's old best friend, Lila. She has six children; five boys and three girls, whom are all older than Thalia by at least four years. With such a large family, large proportions of food and the supplies they mostly need are hard to come by. Thalia picks cotton in the cotton fields most of the time, but when she has free time she sews together some of the fabrics that Lila has made. She tries to sell what she has made, usually blankets and clothes, but rarely ever receives enough money to provide for the family.
