Appearance:

Delphinium Ridiris is not noted throughout the district for her beauty, nor is she teased for her lack thereof. The 17 year old girl found herself comfortably in the middle and avoiding notice. She has a petite build, although she measures 5'6" and weighs 110 (placing her in the normal weight, but just on the cusp of underweight). Her hair is long and straight, and as dark as cotton stalks just before the harvest. The medium brown of her hair offset her pale skin tone and smattering of freckles across her nose. Delphinium received her name because the color of her blue eyes matched the blooming plant found in the district. Her eyes easily being her best feature, are fringed with thick, dark eyelashes. She has thin eyebrows and a straight nose.

Overall, her oval shaped face is always held high over her delicate neck. Delphinium's collarbones and hipbones were constant reminders of her family's financial situation. A fine pair of piano hands sit at the ends of her wrists, long-fingered and precise. Her hands are calloused, from working in the fields and weaving in turn.

Personality:

If you were asked to describe Delphinium in one word, they would probably say: stubborn. Though Delphinium is not in the spotlight in her district, and would rather not attend social functions outside of school, she is well known enough among her classmates to be recognized. Those who don't know her well would remember her as the girl passionate about English and History, and always pushing the boundaries with her questions. For those who know her well, this can be worrisome if the Peacekeepers decide to crack down on behalf of the capitol. Questions are dangerous things, and even more dangerous when in the hands of a person who is smart enough to connect the dots for themselves.

Outside of school, Delphinium limits herself to those in her neighborhood in the less fortunate part of town. Her connections only extent so far as to people who can help her family with food, clothing, and other supplies. Though not unfriendly, she doesn't make an effort unless you become important to her family's survival. To her family, Del is funny, in a mildly sarcastic sort of way, and loyal to a fault. Topics of relationships and boys are out of her comfort-zone, yet if asked for advice, she will do her best to help as much as she can. She is never one to complain.

Delphinium is noted throughout her neighborhood for the ability to work with her hands and fingers. Fixing items with small pieces or broken threads was a skill that she had picked up over the years. Because of this, she excels in putting together fabrics and sewing and asked for (and then was granted) a job a year early for the after-school hours. Delphinium is quick to sacrifice herself for those who are important to her.

Delphinium is afraid of the sound of the wind, and becomes jumpy on particularly windy days. The sound the wind makes whipping through the trees and fields reminds her of crying, and the constant beating against the walls makes her feel helpless. Delphinium, though calculating and distant from gossip, tends to believe there is good in everyone. This puts her at a disadvantage when bargaining for goods, one part because she believes people won't try to bamboozle her money off her, and partly because she's too stubborn to change what she's willing to pay anyhow. On occasion, Del will say things that are extremely hurtful, and drown herself in guilt afterwards. When she gets riled up (which takes quite a long time) disastrous things can happen. If threatened, Del will close up, and become indifferent and cold.

History:

Delphinium currently lives with her family of four in a drab neighborhood in the east corner of District 8. Her parents are sturdy, and both hardworking. Over the years, her father's condition and strength has deteriorated, and Del worries about him and how he's faring in the fields. Her mother holds a local after school business for young children whose parents are at work, yet very few people currently send their children to her. The business used to be quite successful, the the recent decline in customers led Delphinium to get a job in one of the dying factories a year early. Delphinium is the most protective of her younger sister, who is 13 and an active student in school.

At a young age, Del started displaying talents with her hands, using building blocks, sticks, and leaves she found outside to make little play towns for herself. While her father was away at work, Del would give her mother hand-picked bunches of the flowers she was name for, which made her laugh. Del loved making people in her family laugh, and her sense of humor has grown more sarcastic over the years.

Once she started school, learning became a passion for her, and she quickly became accustomed to asking questions about anything an everything. Fortunately, she grew out of asking before thinking, and is now more reserved and cautious about her questions.

Delphinium has little to no romantic history, aside from that boy she kissed behind the playground in third grade (but really, that doesn't count). She feels as if a relationship is not important enough to pursue, and thus feels uncomfortable when subjected to gossip in the lunchroom. She usually sits with a small group of girls, but doesn't take part in the conversation if she can help it.

I'm really lazy right now and I sat in front of a nearly finished bio willing myself to do a reasonable history section. So... it probably sucks. I was honestly debating just doing bulletpoints, but it seemed inappropriate. XD (Would've been funny, though. At least to me....) What would be some questions to improve it?
