Fawn Sterling D10

Fawn stands at 5’3 at 95 pounds with longs legs that some say supermodels would want to have, but living in a poor district like District 10 does not give her time or the money to shave her legs. Her skin colour is tan from working in the sun. Her long arms have enough meat on them to be considered healthy, not like some of the other people living in her district. She has sun blonde hair but the hair itself looks and feels like straw. It falls over her shoulders but is always kept in tight pigtails. The colour of her big green eyes matches the meadow on a beautiful day.

Working every day by caring for animals and carrying heavy buckets her arms have grown quite strong, even though it does not look like it. She trains her running skills by chasing the animals if they get loose. But running is not her main skill, lifting heavy loads and throwing is her skill. Fawn has numerous bruises all over her body from being kicked by animals when she was not careful. On normal working days she wears stained overalls over a faded red shirt. When its cold she puts on a dirty old yellow jacket that goes down to her knees. Old beat up runners cover her feet. On the reaping days she wears a bright yellow dress that used to belong to her mother; this is the only day when she lets her hair down.

Fawn is always the quiet and sensitive one in a group of people. Either sitting with the animals and twirling a small flower or talking quietly with a lone person. She had always been generous and always thought that everyone deserved love, even the mean careers that she had to watch every year deserved a little love. Most of her spare time went to helping in the market or taking care of younger children in the district. Sometimes she would get a small amount of money for taking care of a baby when their parents had to work.

Fawn has always stayed away from conflict, not likely to do things which may cause conflict. She was sometimes not the brightest and most of the time did not want answer in class. Ducking her head down and making sure the teacher did not notice her. But to her few friends she was extremely loyal and faithful. She always had time for them and did not speak up when asked about times they should meet, afraid that they would not like her anymore if she said something wrong.

In some of her spare time when she was not looking after children or helping she would sit by the animals near the farm and draw. Her mom had found paper and a pencil a while back. Fawn would sit by the animals and carefully draw, making sure not to waste any papers. She drew different clothes or some of the animals she could see. Her mom said if she did not live in District 10 she would make lots of money if she worked in the District 8 for making fashion designs. She spends her spare money on anything she can use to draw with.She almost has an obession about not letting anyone touch it. She believes it to be one of her most precious things.

Fawn lives with her mother, Lucy aged 36 and her little brother Field, aged 10. She lives in a tiny house with two rooms. When she was just 4 her father got into a fatal accident while working with the animals. A heavy bucket of milk slipped from a high area and hit her dad at an alarming speed. Her mother mourned for days and Fawn stood by her side hugging her mommy as hard as she could. Lucy was still pregnant with Field and was accepting him soon.

Field was born in a healthy state, Lucy rejoiced along with Fawn, who helped fetch her mom supplies in the house to take care of the baby. When she started to go to school she did not want to get close to anyone, she barely went out to play with anyone else expect for Field. But soon she gained a few friends who she played with time to time. At the age of 11 she went to a small farm near their house and started helping. She took care of the animals and developed a great friendship with them. When she got older she was able to take the horse out for rides. The owner was nice and let her take home a little extra milk or cheese for her mom, brother and herself. Her mom only worked in the market, making little amounts of money, so they were always low on food.

At 12 at the first reaping she had signed up for extra tessera just for the extra food, her mom did everything to try and prevent it but she took her chance even knowing that it could lead to a lot of conflict. And for the last two years she has been in the reaping she has never got picked. But those two years were full of tears for the mourning families of the picked tributes from her district. Fawn usually just mourned along with them. But when one of the tributes from District 10 won last year she was one of the first people to cheer. And now at 14 she works extra hours and helps as much as she can in the district.
