Appearance:
Looking at Ren, you'd start from the top, and scroll on down from head to foot to see what he looks like. At the top of his six foot-two body is his black, curly brown hair, shaven down close to his head. As you move down below his hairline, you see the dark skin of a black teenager. He has a strong brow, and dark brown eyes that conceal his every thought. His nose is a bit on the small side while his lips are large, and almost always curled into a bright smile that is filled with yellow teeth. Above are his far-set cheekbones that make his face seem wider than usual. On his cheek is an old scar from a forgotten punishment years before. Further down is his wide chin and a strong chiseled jaw that is clean of facial hair. Back behind his hair line are a pair of small ears, the left one being scarred from an unfortunate encounter with a stray dog from his childhood that had never healed well, and often made it harder for him to pinpoint sounds around him.Personality:
Below is his thick jaw with a strange adam's apple that seems to protude much further out than most other boys his age. It bobs up and down comically when he speaks, and then youd can watch as a vein pops out in anger if you start laughing at him. Ren's neck then leads into the boy's powerful and muscular shoulders. He's like a bull, strong and proud, but not beautiful in the more conventional sense. After the work around cattle, he's come to resemble them. He's never thought of himself as a handsome guy, but he knows that he is a working man, and is very proud of this part of himself. His hands arms are thick and meaty, and he has hands that you'd swear are the size of pickle barrels when balled into a fist.
Then there are his hips and waist, lean and with little fat, whether that comes from the hard work he does or if it is the lack of food in his poor home that won't allow him to gain any. His thighs are like his arms, thick and muscular with a lot of power behind them. When he runs, it's like a bull charging out of a padlock, you don't want to be in the way, even though he wouldn't actually want to hurt you. Further down are his sculpted calves until you reach his feet, which are unusually small. For a boy of Ren's stature, his feet look like they were an accident. That they belonged to some other person, and one night someone half his size decided to steal his feet and switch them.
Lastly, are Ren's clothes, which are mostly neutral colors. Grays, blacks, dark greens and blues, attempts at keeping him hidden in a crowd. Rarely will he wear bright colors, and most of his clothes are dirty and fit poorly. His shoes are ratty, and are falling to pieces. The soles are falling out, and the backs give his heels blisters after wearing them longer than a few hours. He rarely wears socks with them, and they smell pretty bad.
Ren is a gentle giant. He's friendly, and has a heart the size of the moon. The boy is loving and trusting, and always looking out for people that he cares about. A quick conversation will show how open and honest he is, and his goofy sense of humor is quite endearing. Even if you aren't laughing with him, then at least you can laugh at him as he struts like a chicken, or tries to show you a really bad impression of a pig. It's sort of like hanging around a little kid, and it is surprisingly refreshing, that is if his immaturity doesn't offend you. Some of the sillier people tend to enjoy his company, but those who are the more serious sort can grow weary of him fairly quickly.History:
As far as friend, he doesn't really have many true friends. He has a lot of acquaintances, and while it is nice, his open and trusting nature leaves him vulnerable to be taken advantage of by some of these acquaintaces. Having a few true friends could really help benefit him when he gets into some bad situations, or for advice when people burn him. It would also help him by having someone who being honest with wouldn't come back to bite him. However, he's bad at making those true friends. While he is kind, and friendly, he loves the company of a variety of people far too much. He never sticks around people long enough to forge that true and meaningful relationship. Ren is really fidgety and drifts from one group of acquaintances to the next, never really hanging around the same group for more than a month or so. Whether it is a fear of committment, or just plain love of meeting knew people, the truth is that even he isn't really that certain, himself.
Despite being able to make so many friends, there is one friend of mankind that he actively avoids: dogs. Ever since a young age, he had never particularly liked dogs on account of an accident involving a feral canine he'd tried to pet. It turned on him, and though a majority of the scars had long since healed, his mangled ear never would. Shredded, and ugly to look at, it is not something he likes to talk about. He's actually pretty self-conscious about it, and will often try to profile his face when he talks to people to keep it out of their view. Every so often, he'll have a dream, about the dog that attacked him, but as they say: time heals all wounds, and they've appeared less and less frequently as he's aged, to next to none.
Overall, Ren is the kind and open person that everyone likes, but no one knows. He's bitter towards dogs, and is really bad at dealing with conflicts. He's a pacifist, and doesn't really like engaging in verbal arguments, and would rather just sit back and be liked. Add in the poorly-placed faith in the strangers that will eventually spill his secrets, and you've a strong idea of the teen, Rendwick.
The birth of Ren was a long-awaited gift for his parents, Baron and Ashby. They'd been teenage lovers, married young, but their wishes of having a child seemed like they'd never happen as they tried and failed so many times at having a baby. Eventually, however, their perseverence paid off, and they were rewarded with a strong and healthy baby boy that was the love of the two young parents' lives. For a long time, they were able to relish in the fact that they had a child, and they loved him unconditionally, as do most parents. However, there is always the fact of having a child in Panem that they had been avoiding for the longest time. And this was the day that their little boy would turn 12, and be eligible to enter the Hunger Games. However, he's been yet to be reaped, and there is more to his life.Codeword: odair
One of his most prominent, and quite easily his worst memory was when he was 7, and met a feral dog. Being young, and not experienced around such animals, he tried to approach it, but the animal would have none of it. It lashed out at hhim, mangling his ear, and slicing open the left side of his face. Had it not been for a nearby Peacekeeper that came and shot the dog when he heard the screaming, things could have turned out a lot worse for him. To this day, Ren has difficulties pinpointing sound, but most of the scars on his face have faded away. However, the mental scars of it forged a deep disdain for all canines, and came to prefer animals of a more feline variety.
Despite this, he's lived a relatively normal and happy childhood. His parents are still together, health by District 10 standards, and they still love him as much as ever. Maybe a little bit more since he is currently in the red zone for the Hunger Games, an age period that most parents fear. One of his favorite memories, however, was when he first turned 12 and it was the day before the reaping. Ren's mother was fretting about her son's first day in the lottery, and he said to her, "Don't worry Mama. I'll just kill 'em with kindness." And then she just smiled, and for a moment everything was alright, even though he was just as scared as she was.
Now, he's just trying to live on, and hope that he doesn't get reaped, and then be able to live the rest of his life peacefully. But that's what's the matter with life in the country of Panem. Even if you live past the reapings for the Hunger Games, it will always come back to haunt you. Because Ren knows that someday he will have a child, and his or her name will be in that glass bowl. And it is one of the things that he fears most.
