I made my way to the training halls that morning. Ugh, like I even bothered with it. I hated training halls. They were so confined and closed, I felt like my movements were basically hindered by the four metallic walls that surrounded it. The sound of the other Careers basically ruining the training dummies was also a little bit too much for me, as I prefered very much the quiet feeling of the forest, or the windy sounds of the plains. The industrial sounds coming from the halls, however, were so... artificial. So bland... at least to me. But why bother with such details? I almost forgot why my father sent me here in the first place: to train, to fight and to basically have a chance during the Hunger Games, however meager it would be. So I simply pushed the doors and moved forward. I already could smell the stench of sweat from outside.
On the inside, the smell was so much worse that I had to cover my face not to inhale this (I believed it to be) toxic air. Why did I have to support this? I simply went to the locker room and changed to more suitable clothes for practicing, than I got out and went to the weapons stand. I took a sharp rapier, faced ont of the training dummies and started my attacks. I moved smoothly around it, watching every bit of the "body" before me and landed a hit straight in the flank. I withdrew really fast only to attack in the chest, causing a gaping hole to open in the wooden structure. I withdrew, then targeted the ribs, and so on. Soon, the smell of my sweat covered the stench of the training hall, but I didn't even bother... My only goal was to attack that dummy, to riddle it with holes before finally delivering the final blow, straight into the heart of my victim.
But before I even started my final blow, I heard an unnatural noise coming from behind me. I never should have turned my face towards it... I would regret it later...
