Eponine was really mild these days, withdrawn oh yes, she still went on her errands, yes she still chopped wood but she was definately not the girl she used to be, not ever since the night she had been thrown into the woods and left to die. No, it hadn't been a Capitol member, no it hadn't been part of the Hunger Games, it had been her very own older sister. Jealousy was bad but jealousy leading to attempted murder was worse. What was more was that she and her family had covered it. It wasn't because she loved her older sister, but it was because Tibby lose an older sister. Everything came back to Tibby. The sweet innocent girl, well, now a teen, Tibby, who wouldn't hurt a fly. It was because of Tibby's pleading that Eponine hadn't retaliated. Well, that had been until now.
She had come home from chopping wood to trade. Her first task. She hadn't taken Tibby because it had been well, the weather had been bad. She came in coughing and soaking wet. "Tib, where are ya?" normally, Tibby came running out and hugged her. Today, she couldn't find her. She looked all over the house. Her parents werent home, they were working. Jasmine was flirting with, or so Eponine hoped with another boy. But Tibby was, always, home. It was not a debatable matter. If Tibby wasn't with her, she was home, waiting for her. But something was really off today. She turned sharply as the door closed from behind her. She looked to see Jasmine. They couldn't afford expensive stuff but as the eldest, Jasmine looked the most presentable of all. "Where's Tibby?" demanded Eponine as she looked up at her eldest sister.
Jasmine's only response was to shrug. Eponine was about to lose her temper and pretty quickly. "Where is she?" she demanded again. To scare Jasmine, Eponine picked up her axe. She chased her sister outside in the soaking rain, she chased her to the forest. For people that were still out and could see or hear this mess, they would have thought it very odd. Eponine didn't start fights, she wasn't even very loud and the fact that she was holding an axe with an attempt to hurt someone was just unbelievable. With one hand she grasped Jasmine. I'm gonna count to three...and if you don't tell me where she's gone...I'm going to hurl this axe and it will not miss you" she hoped the threat would be enough.
Jasmine tried to push her sister but she couldn't she was a petite girl who didn't eat not because she didn't have enough but because she wanted to look pretty. The girl shrugged. "how should I know she's your older sister...besides, I made sure she's comfortable...."
If nothing before set her off, this did. Eponine remembered the horrid night she'd been trapped in this very forest alone and bound to a tree.
Jasmine must've seen the look on her face, the older girl kicked her sister and Eponine fell on her butt. As Jasmine ran, in anger Eponine picked up her axe and hurled it. For her sister's sake, she threw it a good five inches away, it lodged in a tree instead. She chased after the older girl, the rain was pouring and she was determined to find both her sisters and if Jasmine had done to Tibby what she'd done to Eponine all those years ago, Eponine would not mind going to a detention center or even being an avox and she would gladly accept her punishment but only after she'd put something sharp and pointy through the girl. She ran as fast as her speed would let her but she had to stop after about half an hour of chasing her, the night was getting dark and she didn't want to be here.
