MASON POE[/size]

It was a bright and only morning, the days Mason loved being able to have off. He took himself to a bench my the docks. Letting the aroma of the saltwater he'd grown so close to go into his nose. If this boy were to close his eyes, he'd be working on the docks, he could be right now. BUt a day off, well that was something Mason would rarely pass. Mason must've fell asleep. Unless he had grown wings. He was flying over District 4, Now District 3, and on and on. Til he was at the capitol. And he landed on a building lightly, making no noise. He walked down the building, that strangely had a roof that went all the way to the smoothly paved roads. This was a strange place. Suddenly, he heard a burst of energy, and someone came out of no where and shot him with a laser.

He woke up with a start. He was bored. Wanted someone to talk to. He was that desperate. So he walked up again and sat down at a new bench. Mason was probably there for twenty minutes staring at clouds. THen he noticed a thump, he looked next to him and a person was there. "Hey, I'm Mason Poe, nice to meet ya!" And he was. Mason thought it would be nice to meet anyone right now.[/color]

Yucca Ephedra

With a mighty tug, Yucca pulled the net free from the water, the waves lapping around her, and foam whooshing. The net was heavy, which meant she'd gotten something.

The day was nice, a blue sky with few clouds. The water was a bit cold, but Yucca was used to it. She spent most of her life in the water, the rest under the stars, gazing at the moon.

Wading out of the water, lugging her net over her back, Yucca looked up at the lovely sky. Tonight would be a crescent moon. Not her favorite moon in the cycle, but beautiful all the same.

The sand stuck to her wet skin, as she trekked up, and put down her haul. A couple crabs snapped and wriggled to be free in their rope prison. Kneeling down, she pulled her knife out from her wet pocket, and easily stabbed their fleshy underbellies. Next week would be her 15th birthday, which meant she could use this meal for herself, and her brother, Net. The rest of her family would just have to make do.

Her white-blonde hair fell across her frost eyes, and she, impatiently, brushed it away, noticing yet another pure-white strand. She sighed, and stood up straight.

She dragged the net across the sand, the sand gritty between her toes. Her wet swim suit dripped water down her arms and legs, and the sun burned her pale face. This would be a nice time to go and sit under the dock, maybe have one of the crabs, and work on a new lanyard.

Yucca attempted to hoist the net up, to hurry things a little. This only resulted in it swinging around and hitting a boy on a nearby bench. Despite this, he turned to her, and said, brightly.

"Hey, I'm Mason Poe, nice to meet ya!"

Yucca stood there, frozen for a moment, then she cleared her throat. "Oh, I'm so sorry! That was accident." She blushed. The boy was a couple years older than her, pale like her, with a few bruises, maybe from working on the docks, but she wasn't sure. His question finally registered in her head.

"Oh, hi, Mason. I'm Yucca. Yucca Ephedra."

MASON POE

The girl seemed kind of taken back. He'd been hit by a crab net. But was still jittery. He wasn't anti-social. He was socially-awkward. Mason doesn't really talk a lot. But he thought talking was something he needed right now. Her name was Yucca, Yucca Ephedra. She was a girl. Well Mason hoped so at least. That would just be weird if it was a female. So when he asked the next question, it was sort of instinct; "What's up?"

Yucca stared at him for a moment. What's up? Didn't this kid know she had things to do, and a place to get back to!

Maybe he's just lonely, she thought, looking him up and down. She had never seen him around school, but that was because she spent more of her time looking up or down then straight ahead. Perhaps he worked on the docks, while she lingered under them, waiting for night to fall, and the moon to rise.

She sat down, next to him, her feet aching and bloodied from tip-toeing over sharp rocks and shells. Her swim suit was gradually drying, which felt a little more comfortable.

"Um, nothing, I guess." She said, in response to his question. "I was fishing. I catch crabs in my net, see?" She gestured, awkwardly, at her net. "Uh, do you fish?"

MASON POE

'She looked annoyed? No. Confused? Yes, that was it.' Thought Mason. Maybe his appearance was different. He saw her look at his body. Mason never saw this girl before. But it was nothing bad. A friend would be fine. Mason's question was replied in these words; "I was fishing. I catch crabs in my net, see? Uh, do you fish?" During those words the girl kind of gestured awkwardly towards the net that hit him. Mason looked at the girl. She was wearing a damp bathing suit. And had bloody feet. The rocks probably roughed them up. Mason decided to answer her question, "Uh, yeah. I work here. But it is my day off. I'm pretty good at fishing. Not an expert though. It's getting kind of chilly. Do you want my jacket?" Asked Mason. It was getting kind of cold. And being nice was bound for him to get a new friend.

Yucca could see the lonliness in his eyes. He was longing for a friend.

Although she was perfectly accostomed to cold weather, she nodded. "I'd like that." She said, and took his jacket. She drapped it over her narrow shoulders, and then squeezed the water from her white hair. Whenever it was soaked, it tended to turn a grayish color, which wasn't very attractive.

She bit her lip, and settled into the jacket. "So, Mason." She tried to keep her voice light, and conversational, but her mind was reeling. What was she supposed to say? "Um, so do you live around here? I've never seen you on the docks before."

"I'd like that." Says the girl, she was nice. Friendly enough. Maybe they could be at least friends. He didn't know. Yucca, the girl who Mason gave his jacket to, was wringing out her hair, and it turned a grayish color, that was cool, in Mason's opinion, but really, it doesn't matter. "So, Mason." started the girl. "Um, so do you live around here? I've never seen you on the docks before." To answer that, Mason shrugged. "I just bet we either never worked at the same time. I mean, I'm sure I must of saw you once or twice at school." Mason find himself chattering away, which was fairly strange for him.

[ooc- sorry such a short post but i loved this and i left before. so i just wanted to revive it. !]
