Caterina walked through the halls of her luxurious home with a hop in her step and a smile on her face. Her parents were going to have a dinner together (since time was running so short), and this left Caterina with an empty dinner table to fill with whomever she pleased. She was seriously considering Lydia, her faithful friend and Octavian, a young, handsome son of a very old, very prestigious family. Yes. That would be perfectly.
She literally skipped into the kitchen, where Lydia was preparing dinner.
"Good evening, Lydia!" Cat said happily, twirling over and hugging her friend. Lydia signed, Not for long.
"Lydia, my parents are having dinner alone, leaving the table open for you, me, and that wonderful boy down the street," Cat chirped. "Nothing you sign or do can ruin this glorious feeling I have!"
Lydia's face was set with skepticism. Wanna bet?
Caterina's wide grin dissolved slowly.
"What?" She asked, resigned. Significantly and with much flourish, Lydia mimed vomiting into a pot of soup. Miming vomiting was their secret sign for...
"Gideon..." Caterina said quietly. Lydia nodded slowly. "Crap..."
He's in the dining room. Glorious feeling ruined yet?
"Yes, thanks. Well, I guess we won't be having dinner together..." Caterina sighed, straightened her shirt and slacks, and raised her arms in presentation. "How do I look?"
Suitably professional, Ma'am, Lydia signed with a smile.
"Excellent," Cat said briskly. "Wish me luck."
Caterina didn't see any other sign. She turned her back and walked into the dining room with a smile.
"Hello, little brother."
