Vibrant: adj. Full of liveliness; Dazzlingly or radiantly bright; seeming to quiver or pulsate with energy.
Ex. Fletcher Gage, age 19, residing in District 12
Fletcher has a face that shines with the light of childhood! He just became a man, but his body still marks him an adolescent. The mines haven’t had the chance to strip him of excess body fat yet. He is 6’1” with a medium build. He has big, calloused hands, with lean, scarred fingers. He has light wavy brown hair that darkens curls at that back of his neck. It continuously falls across his forehead, and into his eyes. He has dark blue eyes that light up when he smiles.
His smile is beautiful. It never seems forced, or out of place. His smile lights up the dreary atmosphere that hangs around the District like a swarm of flies. He has a laugh to match. He has smooth pale skin. He has freckles, most prominently seen on his nose.
His back is covered in shiny red blotches of skin; burn scars. His nerves were messed up, so he can’t feel light touches, but he can feel if someone pushes hard on his back. He also has the scar across his chest, just under his color bone.
Flecther is a powerhouse of energy. He flits from once place to another with the speed at which most people blink. He is always smiling and laughing, and is generally in a happy mood. He doesn’t know the meaning of personal space, or even privacy. He doesn’t exactly pry into people’s lives. He does ask probing questions, but he doesn’t push for answers. He is a touchy-feely guy, freely giving out hugs, and always putting his arm around people.
He repeats words. He likes to taste them, quite literally. He has a condition known as Synesthesia. He senses are interlocked, making him taste things when he hears words. Like when he hears the word ‘Fish’ he tastes chocolate. But if he hears a name of a fish like ‘Salmon’ he tastes dandelions. Every word has a different taste. Because of this, he isn’t a picky eater. Being from a poor family, there isn’t a lot of luxury food. But all he has to do it say ‘Fish’ or something to get a favorable flavor.
Fletch has a problem with misunderstanding everything a person says. Mostly its because he is so distracted by the different tastes that flow through his mouth as the person speaks to him. He will state something that has nothing to do with anything, or he will simply repeat the last word he heard. Many people think that he is stupid, and keep him around to make fun of him.
Fortunately, Fletcher is oblivious and doesn’t realize that he is a running joke among many of his ‘friends.’ They are always making jokes at his expense, but Fletcher takes them in stride and assumes they are just messing around. He is very trusting, and gives everyone the benefit of the doubt. Somebody robs him blind? He passes it off as they didn’t know what they were doing, or they didn’t mean it. He is always making excuse for people to make them seem like good people. This of course, makes him easy to manipulate.
He won't say certain words, and will flinch if someone says one around him. The word 'apple' for example tastes like charred bacon. 'Very' reminds him of overripe lemons. Other words in include, 'Handsome', 'Stairs', 'Green' and sadly 'Coal.'
Fletcher doesn't wear his heart on his sleeve, he buries things deep inside himself. People think that he is a carefree individual, with no worries. That's what he wants people to think. Really, his home life isn't very stable, and is a constant source of stress for him. [/color]
Fletcher’s mother is sick. His father walked out. And his little brother is underfed. But through it all Phineas puts on a smile, and remains positive.
Fletcher’s lives in a rickety house that still manages to be warm and inviting. He shares a room with his kid brother, who is four years younger them him. His mother sleeps in the living room, closer to the fireplace so she could keep warm.
Fletcher’s can barely remember his father. His father left when he was just five years old, chasing after some little blonde beauty. His mother didn’t particularly care, her loved for him had left the moment he had struck her for not having dinner ready when he got home. Fletcher’s mother raised her two children to be good and caring people. She got along just fine without her stupid jerk husband.
When Fletcher was 14, his mother collapsed at work. She lost a lot of weight, and she got cold after cold. She was weak, and any movement sent pain through her joints. But she never stopped smiling; Fletcher had to get it from somewhere. Fletcher started to work after that, his studies fell to the wayside. He did what any kid in District 12 did; he went and begged the miners for odd jobs he could do to earn money.
At 15, Fletcher was in the mines one day, bringing water to the miners, when there was a fire. Luckily, he was near the opening of the mine shaft. Unluckily, as he was exiting, a man pushed him down, and a support beam fell on him. The support beam was on fire. It took the miners a second to realize he was trapped, and even longer for them to left it off of him. He was there long enough to get 2nd degree burns. He was good spirited about it, and return to work after his burns healed.
Fletcher’s little brother, Hayden, looks up to him big brother, and shares his condition, synesthesia. Hayden’s synesthesia effects him differently then Fletcher’s effects him. Hayden sees words in different colors appear in front of his face. Each word has a different color.
Anyway, the three of them are very close, and they share everything. And now that he is 18, Fletch can work in the mines for real.
