Neve Harlow Soahc ~ District 11 (FIN)

Neve stands at a height of 5' 6” and weighs 119 lbs. putting her at a BMI of 19.2 in the healthy range. Being from the Capitol, where it is typical to be thin, Neve doesn’t stand out on that front. She doesn’t starve herself to do it, she works to maintain her health. Her skin is her natural shade of peach. She’s not the typical girl from the Capitol. Her body isn’t surgically altered in any way. The young woman has great posture and grace from years of dance practice. Neve is a talented dancer, this being her primary way of maintaining her thin figure.

Neve’s forehead is large, leaving a gap between her eyebrows and hairline. Her cheeks are full and very red. She suffers from a mild case of rosacea, which she always covers up with foundation. Her nose is long with a large end. Her bridge is directly proportional to the tip of her nose. Her nostrils aren’t very large nor are they very defined. Her lips are a rosy shade of pink that complements her honey colored hair and skin. Her bottom lip is thick and shapely, though her upper lip is slightly wider and thinner.

Her eyes are large for her face with long eyelashes. They are a brownish-green color, the color of light shining on changing leaves. Her eyes are very round. Her eyelashes curl toward the outer ends of her eyes, showing more of the length. Her eyebrows are thin, matching her honey colored hair. They begin at the top of her bridge, and slightly curve inward toward the outer ends on her eyes. Her eyebrows are thickest in the middle, making them almost appear as small triangles.

As I’ve mentioned before, Neve has long honey blonde hair. Neve’s hair is naturally a darker shade of blonde, but she dyes her hair often. She does leave her eyebrows the natural shade, because the darker shade reflects more light into her bright eyes. Her hair is often in a loose bun while studying her textbooks, or while working as an intern for local medics and doctors in District 11. While at home, her hair falls in its natural glory, the way she likes it. Though, because she’s self-conscious, she has her blonde hair styled in a ridiculous fashion, too afraid to step outside of the perception district citizens would have of her.

Though, normally dressed in her professional fashion, Neve is normally dressed in casual clothes at home. Her clothing in the closet of the seedy apartment she resides in contains mostly T-Shirts, jeans, and sweatshirts. She’s never seen like that out in public, wearing either her ‘uniform or wild clothes she maintained from her life in the capitol. She’s never comfortable in the wild outfits, but her irrational fear of being laughed at wins out.

One of her least favorite parts of her body is her legs. As a dancer, this would probably be surprising. Her knees are too short to be considered proportional to rest of her body. Her legs are also covered in scars from years of dance practice and minor slips and falls. In her belief, this detracts from her overall appearance. If she wishes to be a dancer, people would always be staring at her legs. Apart from her legs, her nails are considerably unattractive. Being Neve means having the unattractive habit of biting your fingernails. This, combined with her bright pink fingernails, means unattractive scratches in the polish. Her nails are bitten raw from the nerves, and stand out as an inflamed pink color.

At home, Neve can be herself. She no longer feels the need to pretend to be the Capitol character she never wanted to be in the first place. At home, she can dance. Neve always loved medicine and dance. She loves to care for people, and make them feel better. Once she finishes school, she can’t wait to become a doctor. She loves to care for the stray cats that lay around her fire escape. Neve also cares for pretty things, like silver and diamonds. Reading is a hobby of hers because of her desire to be someone else. She’s too afraid to be herself anywhere else than her home.

At work, things are different. She no longer feels the possibility of dropping her guard. She’ll talk for as long as she can, but it’s not her talking. It’s Capitol Neve, the one with the bubbly personality. It’s not her; it’s what people expect her to be. She’s in the delusion that people would like her better that way. She’s only a girl from the Capitol; she doesn’t understand the Districts view of the Capitol. She loves her job as an intern, working with medics as they go about their business. That’s one of the only things she shares about herself, who she really is. She smiles and giggles as they talk, but there’s no real emotion behind it. Well, actually, there is; fear of being judged.

While on the street, she doesn’t show the caring side of her. She’ll be kind, but she’ll keep on walking home. She needs to feel safe. It’s not that she’s afraid of the people in the district, she’s afraid of what people think about her. She’s worried about would people would think of if they knew she was a lesbian. She’ll wear her craziest looks in hope that it’ll make her either endearing, or scare the person away.

Neve Harlow was born twenty one years ago to Thomas & Irene Soahc in the Capitol. The couple were both well known in the city for their outrageous partying and fun loving lifestyle. People worried that the two were not ready to raise a child. Both were just over twenty years old, how would they raise a baby girl? Their parents never had another child.

As a child, Neve never saw much of her mother or father. See, they never let go of their old habits. Mr. and Mrs. Soahc are total lushes, and it’s known all over the city. Neve was raised by countless nannies that never stayed around for more than a couple of months. It’s not that Neve was a bad child, she wasn’t. She was a doll, always bringing home great grades, never missing birthdays, but it wasn’t good enough. Her parents never paid any attention to her. This developed into her fear of being disliked.

Neve grew up well. She was a parent’s dream. Her parents didn’t care, though. She didn’t party, she didn’t drink. At school, she was known as a lesbian. She came out involuntarily. See, Neve had a girlfriend through high school. Neve felt that things weren’t going to work out, and the girl felt the need to make Neve come out. Her old friends mocked her, leaving her to suffer through the rest of school. She never told her parents, from fear of what they would think. Her parents barely knew her, what would they think if she just told them she was a lesbian? This played a part in making Neve the guarded woman she is now. She knew that she wanted to help people in the way nannies helped her; she wanted to help people survive. She started to consider medicine, and later decided that she couldn’t see herself doing anything else.

Now, Neve is in school working to get a degree in medicine. As research for her thesis, and partly because of her relationship with her parents and opinions of the Capitol, Neve is currently in District 11 working with medics, and one girl in particular. Neve is researching autism, and as part of her research, she’s recently been speaking with a girl about her experiences with autism. It’s interesting for her, and she finds Jessalyn remarkable. Jessalyn holds so much strength, so much more than she does. She looks up to the girl. Now, Neve is on a mission to find who she is away from home.

Raised in the Capitol, moved to D11 for her hatred of her parents and the way the Capitol does things more than anything.
