Appearance:
Ivy is a girl from District 11 standing at the average height of 5'3 with lightly tanned skin that comes from working outside all the time. At her slightly small stature, she is skinny due to being a farmhand for District 11 with how she climbs high trees to pick fruits but also quite fast. She has a set of brown eyes and long, straight brown hair which she ties into a low side ponytail so it doesn't get in the way of her work. She normally wears a T-shirt and shorts since they are easy to move around in while working. Heavy clothes will only cause her to become tired more easily.Personality:
As a child, Ivy had started working when she was very young and because she used to climb trees to pick the highest fruits, she has numerous lasting scars on her arms and legs from climbing the branches especially at night despite having been given permission at times to wear night vision goggles. Ivy has quite a bit of upper arm strength thanks to climbing trees.
Ivy is a very quiet individual. She rarely says anything but this was because she was scared that if she said something, there would be something wrong with what she said and she would be punished. From some other kids' point of view, she was classified as somewhat strange because she didn't normally play with the other kids, she would always keep to herself and distance herself away from others.History:
There are very few people she is comfortable with speaking around and that's her older brother and parents. With how much she keeps to herself, she grew to be very independent, but very lonely even with her brother. People underestimate her however; despite being quiet, she is very determined. She's driven herself to do well regardless of her endeavor and because she's independent, she refuses to let anyone help her, wanting to do things for herself. Ivy is sometimes impulsive because of this.
As Ivy grew older, she slowly began saying more, though she was still distanced all the same. She would defend children indirectly whenever the District 11 'peacekeepers' would look at them in a certain way as if they were doing something wrong by telling the kids to continue working. It saved the both of them. Ivy still has a small fear for her district because of the harsh punishments she had seen over the years, and as much as she wants to protest, she keeps herself quiet.
Ivy grew up in a small, worn down shack in District 11. It was hard growing up considering the whole of District 11 was already underfed as it was. Ivy didn't like the fact that most of what they grew in district 11 went to the Capitol when they could barely feed themselves. Ivy relied on her brother a lot as she grew up but gave it to her straight that she couldn't always rely on him. There would be a time when eventually they wouldn't be around each other, whether something suddenly happened to one of them or if one of them was reaped and Ivy - at the young age of 8 - started depending on herself.Codeword: Odair
Ivy lived in fear both for and of her district. The punishments were harsh if something didn't go the way it should and she had seen numerous workers get shot for 'disturbing the peace' in district 11. Even something as simple as whistling could probably get you killed and that scared her. Ivy remembered the day that man got shot for something so simple; the looks on peoples faces when they would lose a worker, a grim expression that she didn't believe did justice for someone who had just died, but if anything else happened, they would lose more than one.
When Ivy was 12, this was when she really started to think about the Hunger Games. What she had seen on TV was brutal enough, but now she was a possible candidate to be in the Hunger games. Every year since she was twelve, relief would flood through her at not being picked on the day of the reaping, but she would always have a hint of worry for the ones who were reaped, especially the younger ones. She would constantly worry for her brother who looked as if he wanted to strangle someone from the capitol every year.
Now at 16 years old, the day of the reaping hovers over her again, she continued to work as a farmhand, harvesting food only to send them to the Capitol. She was sorely tempted - many times, to sneak some food back to the family, but she knew it would have only gotten her killed.
