Arya Jones,District 10

Arya is average build for a girl her age, standing at an unimpressive 5'7" and weighing anywhere between 100 - 120 lbs (depending on how much food is available to her at the time). Her smooth skin seems to almost always be pale same olive even with her 'tan' which is only a few shades darker than what she was born with and will almost always have dirt smudged on her nose or forehead after a long day of work. It's not uncommon to find Arya getting messy even at seventeen as she is usually handling animals most of the day or helping family (or friends) harvest crops or bring animals around.

Her thin, straight, almost lanky hair is usually pulled up into a bun kept securely in place with the only clip she owns which was once a polished black but now has a worn appearance much like the rest of her with chipped paint and a missing 'tooth' she claims it's her ood luck charm. Even with her hair being securely pulled up, strands often find a way to fall out anyways and is an off brown -- almost black -- in origin that runs in her family giving her a messy appearance no matter how often she redoes it. Pair this with her dark brown almond shaped eyes and it's obvious Arya is of the Asian decent even if she never seems to act like it but honestly does anyone anymore? With most of her clothes being inexpensive and worn out it's easy to say that her family isn't rich but at least they aren't dirt poor and starving to death. Still hard work and heavy labor shows in her slightly calloused hands which are often bandaged because of a cut of some kind and frayed shirts.

In Four words Arya looks like a: Labor Worn Farm Girl on most days despite her best efforts to clean up. Still when she's not working she can be rather pretty with a soft smile and oddly straight teeth but then again when is anyone in District ten not working? She only ever wears her hair down when she's going into town for some reason or when she's around the house after sunset.

"Frankly I could care less if I chopped all my hair off, I mean honestly why would I want to spend hours worrying over my hair when the possibility of starving lurks just around the corner?"

Despite her usual ruffled appearance Arya is a dreamer and it shows through in almost everything she does. She wants so badly to go to another district where she could be better off but doesn't have the money nor the training to move unless it's to District 12 and let's face it that wouldn't be helping anything. Still she dreams about the coast most days and believes she'll one day get there no matter what she has to do. Though in the back of her mind she knows she'll never get out of District 10 she still hopes and prays, living off stories from people who have been there.

She's determined and a hard worker but that comes from growing up breeding, raising, and later slaughtering the animals on her families small 'ranch'. She's not afraid to work and is willing to get dirty but only because she knows she has to to survive. More often then not Arya will take on a few extra chores from her younger siblings to help them out causing her to become more exhausted in the long run. Her reasons behind this are simple: she won't be around he ranch for too much longer and they'll have to do everything themselves.

Terrified. Arya, like most people her age, has lived her whole life in fear of the Hunger Games and being reaped knowing that she'd probably be the first to die during these games or even starving to death before the Games get her. She knows she's not the strongest nor the most intelligent but she does have one thing on her side -- speed. That wont keep you alive long so she's always cautious of everything she does -- whether it involves the games or not. Starving has always been a threat that everyone has to deal with though she knows she's better off then the people in District 12, growing up hearing horror stories about that District. Still she keeps an edge and refuses to allow herself to become lazy (not that she has the luxury) with the mere thought of people starving to death.

Despite all this Arya is a bright and, for the most part, happy person though the fear is always lurking behind every corner. She can't wait to be nineteen so she can stop worrying about the games and be more focused on her life. She, like all her siblings, has held back from making friends or plans for life in fear that they would be selected to die compete for their district. Her whole life her mother and father have warned them away from thinking too selfishly or being rude as to allow them the chance to gain the support of their District if they ever were reaped and it shows with how little Arya speaks to the outside world unless she has to. She's rather reserved for someone her age and will probably pass through life barely being noticed or remembered. However no one knows the temper she has hidden just below the surface of her usually calm face. Arya can be rather snippish at times and has an amazing sense of morbid humor when she's with someone she knows. She isn't one to talk to strangers but she wont ignore them either, still it's best to keep your head down and work hard and maybe you'll be lucky.

Born to a caring mother and a strict father Arya is the third eldest of six children -- a blessing and a down fall. She is the second eldest girl, her sister being two years older then her and has two little sisters and a brother. Their parents both had relatives reaped at some point in time and saw what the loss of that member did to their family so they decided to have plenty of children in case one was lost to the Games. This of course was a double edged sword, if a child was lost to the Games they wouldn't suffer the set back of only having one child left to help the family survive but it also made food harder to come by and keeping everyone well fed. Or, in the worse case have several children reaped through the years there is a huge chance one will be left.

To keep their large family fed every hand over the age of five was needed to help out on their 'ranch' which is really a fancy word for the run down little farm they own -- but at least they own a bit of land. Every child in their family began helping as soon as they were old enough by gathering eggs, feeding the livestock, and moving them to new plots of grass, or any other way they could help. Their small ranch has always help ten hens, twelve full grown sheep, and one cow as long as Arya can remember -- each generation replacing the last or being sent off to the Capitol. Still she was kept clothed (even if they were hand-me-downs) and fed for the most part.

Arya had an older brother named Lee who just disappeared after he turned seventeen never to be heard from again -- Arya was only twelve at the time, her first year in the reaping. Syria, her elder sister is only two years older then Arya and left the ranch last spring to a small plot of almost dead land to start her own ranch and doesn't talk to the family much. Jenn and Alex are her two younger sisters twins both twelve this year meaning they'll be joining the reaping pool, something Arya fears greatly. The final Jones child is a little boy named Dan who is eleven years old meaning they'll all be stuck in the draw next year meaning Arya could very well be pulled with her little brother or her sisters could. The coming year will be extremely stressful on the family but for now only the girls have to worry.
Despite all this the family is close (though it's doubtful Arya would ever have the courage to take the place of one of her sisters) and work hard to stay this close despite their elder siblings running away as soon as they could.
