Personality:
3"4 and about 34 lbs. Neta is one of the healthier children in her district. Her big brown eyes and messy brown hair all add to her overwhelming look of innocence. When she smiles her pale pink lips cause dimples to form on both of her tan cheeks. When someone stands close to her they can smell a hint of sweet berry's.
Being an only child she receives clothing from family friends that their children have out grown. Her mother tries her best to mend the clothes that are to big, but they always seem baggy on Neta anyway.
Neta is often seen in earth colored clothing. Her favorite outfit is a dark leaf green t-shirt that sags down over her solders, a pair of baggy cargo pants with plenty of pockets to hold her treasurers, bits of spare food, and her favorite sling shot with plenty of ammo to fend off bully's with.
While Neta's father tries his best to make sure she never goes without, her cheeks are still slightly hollow where her baby fat has begun to fade. Her face always has a thin layer of dirt covering her slightly rosy cheeks and her clothes are always slightly ripped with patches covering her knees.
On really sunny days Neta can be seen wearing a large yellow sombrero like hat that her grandma gave her for her fifth birthday. Her shoes are the color of the grass covered with splotches of hardened mud and a slight hole forming in the toe of the shoe where her sock less toe peaks out.
Trusting and optimistic, Neta fails to see the tragedy around her. While she is blind to the starvation and suffering of her district, she always tries her best to help the people she can. Growing up in a famished town she knows nothing else. Neta believes that how she lives is how everyone lives. When she see's a person in really fancy clothing she just wonders what animal it came from.History:
Her innocence to the world effects everyone around her. No one, including a lot of the peacekeepers, can seem to be mean to someone who wouldn't understand it even if they were. She hates seeing people in pain and always tries her best to help people any way that she can. She dose not discriminate when she see's someone in need, be it a friend from school or a distressed peacekeeper. This trait has gotten her into trouble from time to time, but no one can ever seem to be too harsh on her.
Unfortunately there are people who take advantage of her trust and kindness to others. She is easily convinced to give up her food, clothes, and other things that a manipulative or desperate person may want. A flaw of Neta's personality is her sense of adventure. She loves to explore, climb trees, and wander off when she should be in bed. This causes problems for her family when she gets caught, but they try their best to hide it from her, not wanting her to feel like a burden.
Her heart does not stop at humans, when she see's a hungry little critter she hides a few scraps of food for them. Any time she see's a wilting plant, be it weed or flower, she try's to dig up its roots and plant it in a place that gets more water or if she knows rain is coming she will dig a little trench to the flower so it can get more water, and move any other plant leaves to the side. While she can identify almost any plant she has and issue with which fruits are edible and which fruits will make her sick for days. She just gets so hungry on the days when food is scares among the kids at school that the sweet juices of a berry sound so good she forgets to look at the signs.
Neta loves to tell silly jokes that her mother taught her. Sometimes she will tell a joke that someone else said that she didn't understand, but everyone laughed so it must be funny. She loves the attention she gets when the older kids in the district ask her to tell them the "good" jokes.
Everyone wants to be next to Neta during the harvest because she sings the most beautiful and uplifting songs, if you are unable to keep up with the rest of the workers she will work twice as hard to help you. Young children love to hang around and take the gifts of the "bad" fruit she leaves behind. After getting a whipping for this she finds more imaginative ways to get food dropped to the kids. Bribing a mockingjay with a song and a berry to rustle some branches, making the branches sway a little harder when a wind comes, and when she is feeling a little to brave and mischievous she may crawl up to a high branch, break it, let out a surprised squeak, and apologize looking on the verge of tears and saying you must have climbed to high.
Neta isn't always the angel that she would like everyone to think she is. She's cute and she knows how to use it. How else would she get all of that extra food for her hungry friends? Not only can she manipulate people into doing what she thinks is the right thing to do, she also has has a lethal side. Always armed with her sling shot those bully's better watch out!
Neta lives in a small tree house covered with vines and Ivy, with her mother and father. Her parents were both in middle class family's until some of the shops got shot down two of which were her grandparent's . Her fathers family survived off of hunting and bartering, while her mothers family survived off selling herbal remedies. Neta's father often came to trade meat for those remedies, and each week the number of times he came increased, until he finally had the courage to get to know her. A few months later her parents died by an undetectable illness, because she was not of age Neta's mother was to be sent into a group home. Neta's father would have none of that, that night he purposed to her, they married and she was able to stay with him. A year later Neta's mother found out that she was going to have a baby.Codeword: odair
Scared and excited, the happy couple prepared what they could for their child. They got assigned their own house, built a place for the baby to sleep, and her dad made her a slingshot. Nine months later Neta was born, she was a tiny baby but healthy all the same. The first time Neta looked at them with her big brown eyes they knew they would give her the world.
Having lived a hard life themselves, Neta's parents wanted to create a world where she did not have to worry about anything. When she was hungry she would have food even if they did not, if she was bored they would play with her no matter how tired they were, and if she had a question they would do their best to answer it.
Even as a toddler Neta had everyone in the palm of her hand. Every night her mom would sing her to sleep and everyday her mom would sing to her to cover the negative sounds of the district, because of this Neta was singing sounds before she could speak words, people would stop to sing to her to see if she would sing back.
When Neta learned how to talk she wouldn't stop, even if what she said made no since she just kept babbling on. Her mom taught her songs about how to tell plants apart and what plant goes with what. By the age of four, Neta knew more songs about plants then she did anything else.
When her father deemed her old enough he began to teach her about self defense. She learned how to squirm out of tight holds, how to push presser points, and how to use her sling shot. At first they started out shooting cans in their house, then her dad would throw things in the air for who to shoot, and then one day her father took her to shoot a squirrel, the moment her rock hit the squirrels head she was in shock, she watched the squirrel hit the ground and then bolted over to it. As she began to cry her father informed her that it was not dead that she just knocked it out, this made her cry even harder. When her father asked her why she was so upset, she mumbled to him through her tears that if it wasn't dead then it was going to wake up in pain and hate her forever. No matter what her father tried to tell her she refused to shoot anything but cans or spots on the wall.
When Neta first started school she loved it, she would learn even more about plants and loved to show off the knowledge that she already had. As school went on she began to dread going, she hated hearing about the capital and how greedy they are there, she hated listing to the repetitive news casts about how they destroyed district 13, but most of all she hated learning about the hunger games. She could not understand why the capital wanted little kids to fight, she felt bad for the kids who had someone they knew be taken away. There was one boy in her class that thought it would be funny to make a list of the kids in the class who he thought would die first if they were in the games. The list got passed around class but no one said anything to stop it, when it reached Neta she took a quick glance over it. She started reading through the names on the list until it got to her's, number five, wondering why her name was on the list she looked to the top of the page, the moment she saw what it was for she crumpled up the paper and threw it out the window. The boys who made the list giggled thinking she was mad because she was so weak. After school that day Neta chased down the boys who wrote the list and yelled at them, when she saw they were laughing she lost her temper. Within moments she was on top of them, pressing pressure points and throwing a few good punches. Just as she got the second boy down the third one hit her right in the nose. As she felt her warm blood splash her face, there was the unmistakable voice of her father. Without thinking Neta began to cry, when her father came to see what was going on she looked up at him with watery eyes and told him that the boys were trying to take shoes. Before her father could call her out on her lie the little boy ran away as fast as he could. After her father took the other two boys home he confronted her about what really happened. Breaking down she told her father everything, about the list, about hating school now, and she told him how she just couldn't understand why some people are so mean. He smiled at her and simply told her: "Some people are bad and some people are good, you get to choose which one you are." Thinking this over for a moment she decided she would be good.
