Age: 15
Gender: Female
District/Area: District 10
Appearance:
Filly has glowing porcelain skin. You can tell she doesn’t get out much by the lackluster shade. When stepping into the light, she’ll squint and sneeze as if her nose has been tickled. In fact, her delicate complexion is one of many physical attribute that sets her apart from the rest of her District. While you’d expect most of the children to have warm skin tones from being outside so often, Filly hides out in the barn, so her entire face appears to be a bit flushed.Personality:
Another prominent feature on Filly’s face is her eyes. They are wide like a deer’s; the same striking shade of blue as her father’s. She has a sweet pair of lips that she purses together when in thought. People say her hair is ugly, with its bland mousy shade, not to mention she always leaves it in a mess. On the occasion she’s spent the night with the horses (which is pretty often) Filly tends to forget about fixing herself up. She’ll go to school looking dirty and flustered, not really caring what other people think. She’s thin, of average height at about 5’5. Her slight build works as a decoy to fool others into thinking she’s weak, when really the young girl is quite agile. If anything, her appearance allows her to slip by unnoticed.
Filly Sable Lovelace has a quiet, deep personality; one that scares most people into thinking she’s a little mad. Her mother and father are the opposite, wondering how their daughter could become such an introvert when they’ve always tried their best to be social butterflies. Because of the awkward relationship between her and her parents, (especially her mother) Filly tends to shut them out. She lives in her own little world; one where the Capital can’t get to her and her only worry is tending to the horses.History:
Filly struggles to shut out the reminder of how horrible the world is. The death of her older brother haunts her, as does the Reaping, the games, even the Capital in general. Her mind is constantly a flutter with scared thoughts. She fears being chosen as a Tribute; convinced that the inevitable will happen if she’s thrown into the arena. She’s sick with the thought that she would be the first one to die and her peers couldn’t agree more. A majority of District 10 sees Filly as a sweet, twisted little girl. She’s not a threat, and if chosen at the Reaping, they all know she wouldn’t stand a chance against 23 other better equipped tributes. Her only hope would be to run and hide.
Unlike the majority of ranchers in District 10, Filly seeks solace in cloudy days. That’s the only time she can be seen outside. While her father’s only wish is to stay cooped up in the apartment, she loves nothing more than to go for long rides beneath a sky full of cold, dreary clouds. She doesn’t get cold easily. While warm sunny days are reserved strictly for reading and talking to the horses, the cold is perfect weather for playing outside. As with most things, Filly’s view on the weather is a little twisted.
At school, Filly has a hard time making friends. While her teacher’s appreciate her silence and willingness to learn, the rest of her classmates find it rather strange. They’ll either be nice to her out of pity or just pretend she doesn’t exist. Filly doesn’t mind this. The less attention she draws, the better. She’ll be less likely to make a bad impression that way. (as if her appearance and reputation doesn’t already do this for her)
Contrary to popular belief, Filly wasn’t born in a barn; she was born in the apartment above one. She’s the youngest child to Art and Sybil Lovelace. Her brothers are three and six years her senior. Needless to say they adored her from the start. Her mousy brown hair is in stark contrast to their light blonde locks; her personality even more so. As a toddler Filly immediately took to spending time in the barn. Her family cares for a herd of eighteen horses that reside in the barn beneath their small, two bedroom apartment. During the summer they let all the horses out to pasture and start conditioning them to be sold. Most end up being used for cattle sorting and ranches.Codeword: Odair
From an early age Filly had a big part in her family’s business; ever since she could walk. In the mornings her father would take her downstairs to help with the chores. He’d pick her up so she could dump buckets of feed. At four years old he started teaching her how to ride. Filly was in love with this new hobby. Her little legs would kick at the horses’ sides trying to make them go faster, her mother’s voice constantly in the background telling her to be careful. She never got along very well with her mother, especially after her brother’s death.
The eldest of the Lovelace children was chosen to compete in the games over eight years ago. He was a strong young man and devoted to staying alive. His plan was to return to his family and give them a new life, and he was rather close to achieving this dream in fact. The fourteen year old survived up to the last day, until being killed by the runner up. The tragedy overcame the Lovelace household and they withdrew from the community immediately. Their reaction was what most citizens of Panem would expect. They grew closer to the District 10 family whose daughter was also taken in that year’s games, building a kinship that would last years.
Following her brother’s death , Filly went from a happy, athletic little girl, to a scared and broken tween. She rode the horses less often, instead, spending her time just sitting in their stalls reading books. Her intelligence grew but with that, so did her fear. There was so much to be afraid of, she realized. Filly’s brother seemed to recover rather quickly and so his strength helped support his sister in her grieving. As hard as he tried, over the years Filly has only become more and more introverted. She attends each Reaping convinced that she’ll be chosen next. She’s the only one left in their family who’s eligible…
