Kai Haven District 11

Kai's body type is somewhat athletic with strong legs from constantly running from farm to farm as a messenger/errand boy. His skin is fair from constantly being out in the open all day and has a farmers tan. His hands are worn and bruised from labor he does during the morning before running errands. A common farmer's build but skinner than most of his family giving him a lean and hungry look.

He is a flat 6' foot tall with short light brown hair with blue eyes that are dim at night and are stunning during the day. For some reason a stripe on his front tooth appears much whiter than the rest, which is not saying much but is noticeable. A mole can be found smack in the middle of his right cheek that smiles at you as Kai grins.

Kai is a young rash youth at the age of 17 and for a lack of a better word is naive. He is the oldest, besides a step brother, and is always working hard for his younger siblings. He values his family above all else and anything that threatens it often comes under attack by his fists. This has gotten into several brawls in school which his younger siblings were teased for no reason other than being a Haven.

His overprotecting personality however isn't noticeable once he is separated from his family. A polite young boy who is always trying to please people. He is always smiling at strangers and holding doors open, often leaving snide remarks if he doesn't receive a thank you in return. If there is room for a side comment or joke to placed at a moment of pause in a conversation, you can bet Kai will be there to try to get a laugh.

Kai can be seen as naive, the type of person who if a boy cried wolf he would be running across the field every time regardless of the situation. The reason for his overprotecting nature lies in with the death of his father. (Which will be discussed in the History)

Kai was the first born of his mother, and the second born into the Haven family. Kai's father had a child with another women, who wound up cheating on him and was caught trying to steal. Even though she had wronged him, Kai's father begged for her to be spared and so she was sent to the Capital to be an Avox. Kai's father remarried ten years later after raising the boy on his own at their small farm which was part orchard.

Kai grew up in one of the poorer parts of town, always scrounging for food and picking up leftovers from the dinner table, never sparing a drop. Kai's older step-brother however, began to fall into a group of boys who began beating Kai, at this time Kai was 8 and his step-brother was 15.

By the time Kai was 10, he was well known throughout the town as a runner, not because he was doing errands, but from out running his step-brother and friends to get away from another beating. Kai never got close to anyone besides his younger siblings who looked up to him everyday fighting against the odds to stay alive, even though they had a small farm.

Then a month before he turned 12, Kai's father began to rapidly fall ill causing the workload to be placed on the children. Kai watched as his older-half brother laughed and directed him and his sibling to work the field. His half-brother was now 19 and managed to get away from the Hunger Games altogether. Everyday Kai secretly wished he would disappear so there was one left mouth to feed. And unfortunately he got his wish.

Eight days before turning 12, Kai watched his father's last breath. The funeral was nothing special, a few locals came by to wish him a safe journey to the afterlife and buried him near the small creek he would often sit and reflect on the events of the day. Kai faced his first selection without his father, whom he blamed his wishing for there to be 'one less mouth to feed' at the house for his fathers' death, and all the while his half-brother had forced him several times to make the trade for more supplies.

Kai is now 17, his half brother 25 and still beating on his younger brother and sister. Kai contemplates killing him everyday, but knows he could not manage the farm without him. The next games he faces his name in the bowl 34 times. He prays alone every night while his brother and sister fall asleep under his arms every night. For Kai, family is everything.

It's rather late and its a 'quick and dirty' post because I generally have a 'stream of thought' writing process. Let me know what I need to fix (Not an expert on the books yet soooo yeah)
