~~~~~~~
Full Name: Blaine Colton Chase
Nickname(s): Most people call him Colton instead of Blaine, though some call him Colt or Chase.
Age: 16 Years Old
Birthday: 21st April
Gender: Male
District: District Ten
~~~~~~~
Appearance:
With oval shaped, warm brown eyes that could be described as 'puppy dog' eyes and a meticulously styled, disheveled looking mop of equally brown locks, Blaine could be described as aesthetically pleasing to the eye, depending on the beholder. Blaine's nose could be called large, as it is, and slightly downturned. His brows are bushy and slightly arched, and he has rather high cheekbones and a sloping jawline. His face is quite strong, though his constant smiling and dimples soften his more sharp features.
Despite his 'just got out of bed 'messy appearance, Blaine spends an awful lot of time preening himself and getting ready, but he does this to each member of the family, for the simple reason that he wants his family to be presentable in public, in fear that the authorities may suspect their mother is being neglectful. Not exactly on the fashion forefront, a usual outfit is whatever is simplest for the task at hand. There is no time for fancy suits in a farm district. A normal outfit would be a wife beater singlet, a plaid flannelette long sleeved shirt for colder days and long pants or shorts, depending on the weather. Blaine doesn;'t own many clothes, and most of what he does have are from his older brothers. Nothing goes to waste in his house.
Standing at 6', Blaine is quite tall for his age, but with a thin body there is one word that comes to mind when describing his physique on a whole; gangly. Though he has muscle tone from his work on the farm, his body is still rather disproportionate; his arms and legs appearing too long for the rest of his body and a long, rather giraffe-like neck. His skin is average colored; not described as tan nor pale. He is devoid of freckles on his face, though over his body there are many freckles and moles spotted randomly in places from when he has spent too long in the sun working.
Blaine has crooked teeth, the two middle teeth curving over one another slightly. They are as white as teeth could possibly be in a poor district, and he takes pride in looking after his teeth because he is always smiling. His constant smiling has earned him two dimples in his cheeks, as well.

Personality:
A happy smile hiding a pessimistic heart, Blaine's face never betrays his emotions. He had to learn to mask his emotions at a young age, with a large family struggling to survive in the harsher Lower District conditions, surrounded by food but unable to eat it. There was no time for weakness, and he learnt this fast.
Almost always smiling a grin that never reaches his eyes, Blaine seems to be a cheery, hard working guy who isn't afraid to get his hands dirty and adores animals. He barely ever complains, and if he is, it's probably because everyone else is as well.
But behind those fake smiles, one might notice the slight twitch in his facial expression when he is told bad news, notice his eyes, blank and dulled with pain and pessimism internalized. His eyes are perhaps the only way to tell what Blaine truly feels, and may well be the only way to tell when Blaine is truly happy, something that hasn't occurred for a while. Burdened with the worries of his family and their empty stomachs, he has to work hard to keep them all alive and well, and that is one thing he takes pride in. Blaine is truly happy when all of his family is.
Though quite modest about just about everything, Blaine can come across at first as rather conceited. Perhaps it is the constant, nervous fiddling with his hair and clothes, or the constant worry about his appearance and that of his family, or perhaps even his hard work coming across as a way or showing up people with his skill in what he does. He has lost many a potential friend this way.
Blaine is, while showing off his optimistic, happy facade, quite playful, cheerful and nice to be around. He could be classed as a person who hates to waste things and doesn't really like to rest and let others do too much. He can be very helpful and caring, but in his concern he can butt into matters and things that don't concern him and that people don't want him to know.
Being from a Lower District, Blaine had to begin work at an early age, so schooling and academic skill wasn't as important as trying to survive. As a result of this, Blaine, though quick minded and intelligent, lacks skill when it comes to expressing himself in words. He can lie through his teeth and slip out of just about any situation, but sometimes a conversation with him can take a while, as he often has difficulty finding the words he wants to say to express what message he wants to get across. Despite his lack of ability to have a flowing conversation, he is quick outgoing and doesn't shy away from strangers.

History:
Born into a family of four at the time, Blaine was never given too much attention. During his first few years of life, his mother cared for him as any mother would, but she fell pregnant again and could no longer coddle him as she had been doing. From there on, it was his two older siblings who cared for him and raised him, while his mother continued to pop out children (and quite often lose them in the womb or otherwise, which caused her to always need to be consoled.) and his father worked tirelessly to hold up the family. Though his siblings would look after him, they worked and could not be constantly watching him, so Blaine was forced to learn that he had to be independent, because he wouldn't always have people to rely on.
When Blaine was four, his mother gave birth to a little girl called Tallulah. The little boy became infatuated with his little sister, doting on her and often growing upset when he wasn't able to be with her. They became inseparable as Tallulah grew to an age where she could join Blaine on his adventures with the family and otherwise.
From the tender age of five, Blaine was being taken out onto ranches with his family and being shown the ropes for when he grew older. Having learnt quickly from his family and shaping up to be a natural - as most children turn out to be at their districts trade - Blaine was more and more frequently brought with his family to their work, and in fact began to help them and work himself.
If there is one pivotal moment that can change a person forever, it could quite possibly be this event that shaped Blaine Colton Chase into the person he is today. Newly ten and enjoying the extra freedoms he got, Blaine took his younger sister Tallulah with him to the ranch his father worked at. It was late at night and everyone had gone home, but Blaine had asked to play in the backyard with his younger sister. Suffering from the fatigue of returning to work now that she could no longer bear children, his mother Delilah had agreed to it. Blaine had not, in fact, gone into the small backyard of their tiny home at all.
He led his little sister to the nearby farm where his father worked, and showed her his horse riding skills. Being the rather gullible and ignorant six year old that most children become at that age, Tallulah attempted the same thing, and before Blaine could figure out where she was, she was on the back of a horse whom had been labelled intractable by his own father. In his distress, Blaine had aggravated the already wild horse, and sent it into a frenzy of rage that ended up rousing half of the animals, sending them stampeding away from Blaine, taking Tallulah with them.
It is unknown when Tallulah fell off the horse, but whenever she did, she remained where she fell, trampled by the cows and horses residing on the farm. Despite Blaine's best efforts. she could not be revived.
From that day on, Blaine was an outcast in his own home. He showed little to no emotion, and the best reaction one could elicit from him was a cheery, dimpled smile. Now an insane wreck, his mother was little more than a mouth to feed with no income, not now, not ever. His father wouldn't talk to him, and worked longer hours so he wouldn't have to face him. Even though he wasn't the oldest, he was caring for the family, holding them up. With six younger children from 7 to 15 to care for, Blaine has to remain happy, even though the fear of the reaping and the chances of one of his siblings or even himself getting picked is always on his mind. A pessimistic heart, hiding behind a happy smile. A broken heart, hiding behind a broken facade.
