Appearance:

Mason looks older than most of the boys his age. He has light brown hair and stubble on his face that suggests the beginning of beard. Once he speaks, however, any doubt about his age are resolved. His boyish voice could never be mistaken for that of a fully grown man. Mason's hazel eyes match the color of his hair, though a shade or two darker than his skin. Years working and playing outside have given Mason a thorough tan. Most would not see Mason as an attractive young man, his nose and ears seem a size too big for his face, and his teeth are crooked and out of place. None of this has ever bothered him, however.

Mason is about 6 feet tall. With his weight at about 115 lbs, he is very thin. His long legs, coupled with his lanky physique, give him the perfect body to run. He utilizes this often, giving him bulging calf and thigh muscles. The same cannot be said for his upper body. Mason's arms are bone thin, resembling twigs more than arms. His chest and stomach are much the same way; counting his ribs would not be a difficult task.

Personality:

Rarely serious, Mason is either hilarious or unbearably annoying, depending on whom you ask. Years of playing pranks with his friends on nearby ranchers have helped Mason become extremely sneaky. Though he rarely intends to hurt people, Mason often does it inadvertently through his habit of making jokes at the expense of others. He is very sarcastic, and rarely polite to anyone who doesn't pose an immediate physical threat to him. The possibility of physical retribution on the part of his target changes everything for mason, however. He is very intimidated by those larger than him and often relies on his speed to get him out of the trouble he often gets himself into.

Though he can display signs of intelligence at times, Mason often makes snap decisions without thinking logically. When presented with a problem and given time to think, however, Mason can prove to be quite cunning. He is able to think strategically, and is able to lie very well, which often makes up for his tendency to infuriate others. Mason comes off as arrogant and rude to many people, adults in particular. This is a misjudgment, however, because when no one is around, Mason is actually extremely insecure.

For the most part, Mason does not have much luck with girls. His brutal sense of humor offends the sensitive ones, and those who can bear that are often scared away by his unattractive appearance. Mason associates mainly with other boys, and his behavior reflects this. He and his friends are all extremely immature, and often are seen as bothersome by everyone not with them. Despite all of this, however, those who take the time to get to know Mason find that his obnoxious behavior is only to impress the crowd, and he is actually a very charming person in a one on one conversation.

History:

Mason was born in District 10 to parents Lauren and Patrick. He is the youngest of 5. His oldest sister, Daisy, has always been close with him. At 25, she is about 10 years older than him. There are 3 boys in between the two of them: Victor (23), Lienert (19), and Mangus (16.) Mason was frequently picked on by his older brothers as a child, which is where his tendency to make jokes at the expense of others originated. Though his parents made more money than the average District 10 resident, spreading it out over a family of 5 meant that Mason went hungry very often as a child. This is where he developed his lanky physique.

Mason's parents own a slaughterhouse, where they kill, process, and package beef that is shipped to the capitol. They often keep cows at their home, where they feed them in order to fatten them up. Mason enjoys spending time with the cows, but has no problem with the fact that they will eventually be slaughtered, and looks forward to his 18th birthday, when he will be able to start working in the slaughterhouse himself, along with his older brothers. As for now, Mason goes to school like the rest of the children in District 10. He is very unpopular with his teachers, due to the reputation his brothers have given him and his tendency to disrupt class with funny comments.

At about age 10, Mason started to do what has become his favorite past time: play pranks. Weather on his own family, neighbors, or his friends, Mason still spends most of his time planning pranks to this day. He was introduced into this habit by his older brother Victor. Because of his sneakiness, Mason rarely gets caught, and his speed usually saves him even if he does. His pranks are harmless, usually involving leaving some sort of foul smelling mixture in the home of a neighbor, or cleverly hiding some sort of sticky substance on his older brother's bed so he will be stained when he lays down. This is how Mason spends most of his time today.
