Melanie Jamison [D11]

Melanie is the type of person whose appearance is unique. She has pale skin which has light brown freckles dotting it. Her eyes are strikingly hazel and matches her hair which is in-between burnt orange and brown. It is long and straight and falls just below her shoulders. She thin, delicate pink lips and her teeth are straight but her front teeth are notably larger and odder looking than the rest of her teeth.

She has a thin frame, but wide hips. She is petite, about 5'5 or 5'6. Her arms are long and thin as well as her legs, which have a bit more muscle on them than her arms. Across one of her shoulders in a huge scar in which she had to get skin grafts so it looks pink and does not match her skin tone. Also, on one of her fingers, she is missing a finger nail because of an accident.

Tough and self-reliant. Melanie is very tough and can be sharp at times. She is not shy at all until she meets a boy that she likes, then her personality changes completely. She likes to hang out around town and around other women in the orchards. Sometimes she will even help out.
Melanie has a hard time walking long distances or running a lot though because she has asthma and that holds her back a lot. Melanie is also very sarcastic to people, but in a funny way. Though she can be funny, she has cold times. A lot of them actually. If she does not like somebody, she can be cruel to them and say naughty things to them.
Also, if someone sasses her she will answer back sharply. A lot of this comes from her parents that beat her a lot. She mostly tells people she gets them from being clumsy, but they all come from home. Her dad is her worst fear. If he doesn’t like something she did or forgot to do something he asked her, he will beat her with a belt till tears come. She is very tough so to get her to cry takes a lot physically and emotionally.

Melanie Liberty Jamison was born into a broken family. Her mother and father always argued, but never split. She tried to love them both, but it was almost impossible because they treated her so badly. Sometimes, she went days without eating a single piece of food. Usually, she would get the food from her neighbor Mrs. Hamilton.
Mrs. Hamilton was like her second mother and taught her everything and helped her through pains. She always had despised Melanie’s mother. Mrs. Hamilton had talked to her mother and tried to change her so Melanie could grow up in a real family, but nothing worked. Sometimes, after talking to Mrs. Jamison, she would come back with a scarlet handprint on her face.
Soon after Melanie’s 10th birthday, Mrs. Hamilton passed away of a heart attack. Melanie went into a state of depression. Her life was hell until sometime in her 13th year. She met a boy named Sammy McShear. He was her life. They spent every day together and Melanie thought it was true love until something dreadful happened. Melanie’s father hated that Sammy boy.
So one night, Mr. Jamison followed the boy home, and while he was sleeping, stabbed him repeatedly in his sleep. He was eventually caught and sent to the Capitol for further trial. He ended up with 5 years of jail time. Melanie was devastated and found refuge in her sharp, cold ways. When her dad came back, she became more independent, spending nights away from home and things. Her life was hell one again.
