Age: 14
Gender: Male
District/Area: District 11
Appearance:
Georgie is known to be very handsome. He has the tanned skin that is the norm in District 11. His natural skin is darker from the sun, due to working in the fields. He inherited most of his physical features from his father, Lathrop, but his eyes were inherited from his mother, Gisli, and are a brilliant blue. His eyes are his most distinguishing feature.Personality:
Additionally, he is very muscular although slim (due to the lack of proper nutrition) and looks older than his age of fourteen. He doesn't smile too often, but when he does, it is a small smirk rather than a full-on smile that is visible on the right side of his mouth. He stands about 5'8", weighs roughly 135 lbs, and is still in the process of growing.
Georgie can best be described as the strong, silent type. He never says much and rarely smiles, so is considered to be very intimidating. However, the reason he doesn't speak is because he has nothing to say. He dislikes people speaking for the sole purpose of hearing themselves speak - a practice not so common among the District 11 people, but rather those from the Capitol. He doesn't smile because he lacks happiness, it is just a habit he learned over his years. Most often, he laughs on the inside unless he finds something too hilarious to avoid outward laughter.History:
He is somewhat an introvert around most people until he gets to know them well enough - as well as he knows his family. Georgie rarely opens up to anyone outside of his parents and two siblings, Pomona (17) and Carolos (8). One of his most commendable traits is how protective he can be in regards to anyone; this is not limited to his family but extends to all people who are mistreated. He is exponentially more level-headed than his sister, Pom, and has a diplomatic presence about him that allows him to get his way more often than not. His voice is very calming and almost entrancing.
It is common knowledge, throughout the district, that Georgie dislikes his name, not that he has ever said so. Rather, he insists that everyone call him Joe. Inwardly, he disliked his name because he believed it emasculated him, sounding too 'boyish'. The alternative, George, he believed, sounded like a name that an old man would have, so he chose Joe. At the age of eleven, he had thought long and hard about this unofficial name change and told his family, who listened readily as he requested few things.
In school, Georgie was the top of his class. Of course, this meant little when you were a poor district citizen, but faux ceremonies between classmates honoured him time and again. His family was always very proud, regardless. However, unlike his sister, he never enjoyed school. He much preferred work. School was necessary in order to adhere to Capitol rules, but work was also necessary and Joe enjoyed it a great deal more. Most of what he learned in school, he believed, could be learned out in the fields, which were more beneficial as well.Codeword: oDair
Georgie isn't outwardly ambitious, but his insides tell a different story. When Georgie was six, his brother Carolos was born. That year was also one with many hardships in terms of hunger. As a result, their mother, Gisli, could no longer bear children. Although young, Georgie noted his mother's pain and began dreaming about a life where this kind of hunger would no longer exist. The gruesome reality is that remaining in District 11, even as an 'elite', would always mean days or weeks or months of hunger. Georgie does not accept this. He began working hard in school, falling in line with the Capitol requirements, and working harder than most boys his age, so that he could have a chance at a better life, not only for himself, but for his family, both present and future, as well.
He was unsure if a move to the Capitol would ever be something that he would be interested in, but perhaps a move to District 1, where they are said to never be hungry and rarely have to work. Of course, Georgie could not imagine an idle lifestyle free of work, but knowing that his future children - he did want children - would be safer with full bellies, was something he yearned for. These dreams of his - these thoughts - are his alone. Although he has always been close with his family and knows that anything he says would never be held against him, he believes that this is a secret that belongs to him alone.
Of all members of his family (his mother and father, Carolos, and Pomona), he has always leaned his affections towards Pomona - another secret of his. Although they are very much opposites (she is aggressive against the Capitol whereas he remains rather indifferent), he feeds on her power. They rarely talk to one another, both being fairly silent individuals, but they spend plenty of time together. He occasionally tags along with Pom on her 'adventures' to discover new plants, although he finds them more useless than not; he simply enjoys her silent company. Their mother and brother are fairly talkative, and their father seems to enjoy it. He'd rather be with Pom. It isn't her silence that draws him in either. Ever since she began speaking out against the Capitol, he has viewed her as a force full of power. His own strengths come from hers.

This is the biography for Pomona, which goes into more details about her own changes (to being outspoken against the Capitol, for example), just in case some things are unclear about her.
