District/Area: The Capitol
Appearance:
An unusually tall boy for his age, standing at an impressive 6’ 5”, he easily passes for five or six years older than he really is. His face is thin and angular with prominent lips, and his skin is unusually paler than what should be natural -- but it is natural, since he was born with oculocutaneous albinism. This affects his eyes as well, making them a startling shade of violet. His vision wasn’t too good either, so he had surgery to improve his eyesight. Tiny gems are implanted in his irises that sparkle and glow when the lights of the Capitol hit them. His white-blond hair is spiked and arranged to shade his face.Personality:
Had he lived in a District his albinism would’ve brought much unwanted teasing; but he lives in the Capitol, where he fits right in with the rest of the society’s fashion. In addition to his natural appearance he’s added some enhancements: midnight-black eyeliner that makes his skin even paler and fancy piercings on his ears. His sense of fashion is heavier and moodier than most other Capitol citizens: shades of dark grey, black, red, with the occasional white, heavy jewelry, leather, and spiked chains adorn his outfits.
With his height and sense of fashion he comes off to people as some sort of silent assassin. He doesn’t put much effort into being friendly: the rest of the Capitol is much too bubbly and, in his blunt opinion, idiotic to bother being friendly to. He sees his fellow citizens as friendly but ignorant people who know nothing beyond the boundaries of their own extravagant lives and the annual Hunger Games, but he still respects them as equals. He's also very quiet and borderline anti-social, speaking out only if he sees reason for it; if that’s not the case, then he’s all silence and golden.History:
Despite his dark and intimidating appearance and his blunt attitude, he can be a very gentle person. His silence is always broken when he sees something innocent being harmed, which is why the fervent enthusiasm for the Games unsettles him some. He shows reasonable hospitality to anyone deserving of such treatment, but very few people earn his loyalty and friendship. In a world where children who had nothing to do with the rebellion are systematically slaughtered, you can’t blame him, either; during the Games he will withdraw from his social life more than he usually would, keeping his thoughts to himself and pondering over the current situation.
While he usually sticks to his reclusive behavior, he still has something resembling a social life. His odd lifestyle has gained him some odd friends: fellow fashioners, small shop dealers, street performers, and even the occasional wanderer or Avox. Occasionally he will go out with a group of peers or co-workers for a drink or a concert or a walk down the shopping district. Although he likes his given name, it comes off as a nuisance at times because almost no one can pronounce it correctly, so he has others call him “Casi” to make life easier.
At one point in his blurry past he lived in one of the Districts (he doesn’t remember which) as an orphan; his parents were supposedly executed for some crime. A Capitol official who had been making inspection rounds was fascinated by his pale complexion and brought him back to the Capitol with him, where he was raised alongside the official’s other children. While he was treated with something like a child’s fascination for some strange creature at the zoo, he didn’t mind; he was being fed and kept safe and comfortable, and people gave him his space.Codeword: muttations
He was allowed a surprising amount of freedom by his “guardian”, and this gave him much opportunity to go off on his own. His midnight wanderings led to encounters with various sorts of people who would later become life-long friends. One particular evening he caught a girl trying to break into a nearby residence and discovered she was a wanderer who had run away from her District to escape the Reaping; he let her go out of sympathy, and she has since been one of his closest friends.
As he grew older he became an apprentice for a repairman in the richer aristocratic neighborhoods of the Capitol. His appearance, on top of his stature, now draws even more stares from around him and even knits of people asking him about it, so he sticks to the alleys and the less-traveled streets of the Capitol.
