Appearance:

Cinder is a small mousy boy from District 12. He has dusty brown hair that is strait as can be and usually droops into his eyes because he hardly gets his bangs trimmed. His eyes are the color of milk chocolate. His nose ends in a little point earning him the nickname “Mouse Boy” from some of the kids. His lips are of average size but he does have a small scar that runs from his lower lip to about halfway to his chin. It’s not very noticeable. He got is when some kids were picking on him and pushed him. He fell face first on some rocks and cut his face. He has round ears which add to his mousy image.

Living in district twelve has not been kind to Cinder. He has a slight frame and is very small for his age. He only comes to a height of four feet, two inches. People mistake him for being younger then he really is. The one thing he has going for him is his nimbleness and he’s not that bad of a runner. His nails often grow faster than a normal males but he usually just chews them down.

Cinder’s wardrobe is not a fashionable one. He mostly wears dingy shirts and torn pants that his mother makes or finds. He dreams of one day owning a cloak. He wears a pair of worn out tennis shoes that he found one day on the edge of town. He didn’t look for the owner and took them because before that he just walked around with bare feet.

Personality:

Cinder is a troubled child. Throughout his whole life he has been abused or picked on. He gets frightened easy and is usually alone. He fears his alcoholic father and his rages. He also has few friends because of his mouse like features. He does love his mother a great deal and she loves him back. The times alone with his mother are some of his happiest.

Cinder doesn’t like school. Not because of the work or the teachers, but because of the bullies and other kids. Usually if they don’t pick on him they treat him like he’s invisible, but his biggest fear is going to the Hunger Games. He knows that he would never make it. He feared his twelfth birthday and thought of killing himself once but didn’t for his mother’s sake.

Cinder may seem lonely and weak but deep inside he hides a sense of justice. He never kills insects or other helpless creatures because he feels it’s wrong. Very rarely he comes upon another kid being picked on and tries to defend them but it usually ends up with his own beating. He hopes that one day he might make a friend but with his like who would want to?

History:

It was the year of the 50th Hunger Games when Trent Griffinyore and Lilith Griffinyore gave birth to a son, Cinder. Cinder grew up as healthy as any District 12 child could. It was apparent early in life that he would be a short child but his mother still loved him, but his father was a different matter. From the age of two Cinder’s father had a drinking problem. He beat Lilith in his anger sometimes and when Cinder grew older his father would beat him as well.

Cinder looked forward to starting school but rapidly grew to hate it. From the first day kids gave him stares and it wasn’t long before he was called “Mouse Boy” or “Little Mouse”. Now along with his the beatings he got from his father sometimes, he got pushed around by older kids at school. It only added to Cinders depression.

All his like Cinder has feared the Hunger Games. It reached a peak when he turned twelve and this was the year he could be sent. His mother tries to comfort him but it doesn’t help when his father wants him to go. Cinder never understood why his mother never left his father for someone else but he never had the courage to ask. Now he only lives day to day in fear and without friends.
