Montgomery Vale [D12M - Finished]

Appearance: I'd describe myself as a person with an ordinary exterior, but an extraordinary interior. I'm not going to talk about my personality just yet, but I can explain what I look like. I'm short for my age and look a little baby faced, with freckles flecked onto my cheeks. My hair is blonde and just tips my shoulders. It's easy to manage as it lies naturally straight. My eyes are a dull blue, lacking wonder or imagination.

Like I said, I'm not the tallest. I'd guess about 5''6', which isn't exactly the size of most sixteen year old's, but when you live in a District that is deprived of food and nutrients, it's easy to see why my growth has been limited. I'm frail and scrawny, I'd love to say that I need fattening up, but everyone around these parts does.

I wear my work clothes mostly, which consists of a ragged long-sleeved shirt, a faded brown in color. Work slacks are a favorite of mine: So comfortable. I also wear black, military style boots that are steel-capped and sturdy. My sleeves are often rolled up, as they get in the way, but I've never really cared for my general appearance. Like I said, I'm ordinary to look at. It's my insides that are interesting.

Personality: What if I told you that inside my head, I'm not alone? It's true. I was born an ordinary child, grew up starving and in pain, like most my age. I was lonely, so lonely during my crappy educating years. That's when they chose me. That's when the voices started to talk inside my head. So many different voices, each with opinions and varying control over me. At first, they were my friends, but later I discovered the nature of some of them. Vicious, but so controlling.

I find it hard to ignore them, to not do as they ask, but they are manipulative. They are cunning, deceiving and they won't leave me alone unless I do as they ask. They won't shut up. Sometimes I like them, my demons, because they comfort me. I'm so alone, so vulnerable... but the voices took away loneliness, now I will never be alone.

They're not all bad. Some are generally nice and give me confidence. Before the voices came, I rarely spoke to anyone except my family. Now I have built up the strength - And with a little help from my friends upstairs, I am able to do what I want, talk to who I want without the fear of rejection or awkwardness. I don't have fear anymore, because the voices will always understand me.

I enjoy socializing where I can, I try not to let the voices control me as much when I'm with others, and I'm a relatively friendly guy with somewhat a sense of humor. I enjoy working and providing for our family, it gives me a sense of pride. So, don't judge me because my mind is polluted... Get to know the real me first.

History: I was born to Raktic and Jennifer Vale, the second but only child. My older sister was a stillbirth, and was a huge stain on our family history. My mother grieved for years, but eventually her and my Father tried again... And here I am! We are pretty poor, but we scrape by. I mean, we all do our bit to get food on our plates, but the living conditions are awful.

At least I was able to go to school and get a good education. Most kids don't appreciate the value of education, even if it is mostly Capitol propaganda. School was the reason I was able to get a job once I hit my teens, and became able to bring more coin into the Vale house. Of course, that was when the voices began. That's when they chose me. Filling the void inside my head.

The voices allowed me to do great things. Great, but horrible things. Stealing, begging, threatening... A spike in our income was a result of these illegal activities, but I found myself not caring. Hormones, or the Voices? Whatever it was that brought on my attitude, I changed that year, and not for the better.

I named the voices. I gave each of the different tones a name. They vary so much, you see. There's Panic, a little voice that screams inside my head, who often talks along with Paranoia. I named my favorite Honor, a truthful but sometimes overly proud voice that has some of the biggest influence on me. At the top of the food chain of voices is Malice. Malice is sadistic and twisted, telling me to kill or hurt. I often ignore Malice, but he does manipulate me into becoming more spiteful. There are others, less controlling voices, such as Depression and Common Sense.

So many voices, all with varying control and morals. Some I ignore, but others burn inside my mind. Some possess me. That's what has always scared me.
