Flint Gallium (District 10)

Flint Gallium is a 14 year old orphan from the slums of district 10. Tall but skinny due to lack of nutrition, he stands at 6'0'' and weighs 120 lbs. His hair is a very dark brown and his eyes are a reddish brown like the color of rust. His skin is tan.He tends to leave his hair long and messy at about shoulder length and always seems to have one eye under his bangs.

Flint does not tend to dress well. Usually in a brown tattered shirt, white burlap pants that are always dirty, and worn out brown leather boots. When he works out in the fields tending to cattle he likes to wear a straw hat and tie a cloth around his head under it like a bandana to keep the sweat from his eyes. His hands and face always seem to be dirty.

Quiet and stoic, Flint does not like to talk much. He can be shy and has a difficult time putting faith in other people. His friends are very few, an owner of a general store, his daughter, and an older peacekeeper who is sympathetic toward him. He lives with an adoptive guardian working as a ranch hand.

Lacking food in his life he will do almost anything for a hot meal. He is hardworking and diligent and while he has a hard time trusting people initially, if you can win his trust he will not turn his back on you. He does not have much of a temper but if he feels angry, betrayed, or saddened he will refuse to talk to anyone, preferring to direct his focus in his work when he can.

His favorite thing to do is read. Mainly about other districts and how they all fit together in the Capitol’s grand vision. He has a strong dislike of birds, chickens especially, because he believes they are loud and messy. He is a decent shot with a sling which he uses to kill birds and small game when they wander onto the ranch.

His greatest fear is going back to live as an orphan due to the abuse he suffered there as a child. He has difficulty sleeping due to the nightmares he sometimes has. Despite being distant he also has a fear of being alone in the world, a fear that developed when he began to form bonds with people.

Flint lived in an orphanage until he was about 10 years old and ran away to the towns "Victor's Village". He was found by the victor of a previous Hunger Games, heavily bruised, weak from hunger, and trying to kill a chicken with a stick with little success. In his old age the former victor who calls himself "Spur" told Flint he could sleep in the hayloft and he would feed him 2 meals a day provided he helped him raise his livestock.

During the time he spent on the farm he learned to care for animals. He learned how to treat wounds from several different types of injuries from mild cuts to broken bones and wild dog bites. Some of his responsibilities included moving heavy bags of grain and bales of hay to the barn and chicken coop, herding cows, helping cows deliver calves, milking cows, and killing an occasional wild dog.


Not much is known about his parents. All he knows is that he was left on the doorstep of an orphanage with a note that said "Take care of Flint" that was carved on a piece of Gallium metal. It was also said that on the very night he was left on that doorstep there were reports of a couple escaping the custody of a group of peacekeepers by crawling under a fence through a ditch that was had to have been dug earlier that night. He believes that it is possible his parents were from another district which may explain his unusual first name and why he has not been able to find any information on them in his district.
