Alexander Vasquez D11

As a 15 year old male, Alexander stands at a small 4 feet 11 inches. Because of
this, he can almost always be found in his work boots, which give him an extra three inches at the least. To make up for his tiny stature, he frequently works out, and is well toned for someone living in District Eleven, one of the poorer districts.

Although Alexander is considered a teenager, he is often mistaken for a child by those who do not know him. This is mainly due to his height, but he also has a rather young looking face, similar to that of a boy who has not yet finished going through puberty yet. Alexander blames his height and young appearance as a delay of puberty, although this is yet to be known for sure, and is probably just an attempt to help his bruised ego regarding his height.

Unlike many of the boys living in district eleven, Alexander does not have dark
brown or black hair, rather a golden- blonde shade that falls to his shoulders. Ninety percent of the time, he has it up in a ponytail or tied in a braid and
tucked under a cap. Alexander refuses to cut his hair, because having it at his
current length makes himself look more like his father, whom he idolized.

His skin is tan from working in the sun every day, like almost all of the people living in District eleven who work in the fields. He has his mother's hazel eyes, and also her facial features, to his dismay. It's not that he doesn't appreciate his mothers beauty,
but he has always aspired to look more 'manly', and secretly wishes he had his fathers strong and sinewy features. Instead, he must settle with having his mothers soft nose and round eyes. You most definitely wouldn't mistake him as a girl, but you might mistake him as a 12 year old instead of a 15 year old.

Alexander, Alex and/or Al, as friends and family call him, has a fiery temper and often gets mad over the little things. Woke him up five minutes early? Watch out. Things don't go according to plan? Yikes. But the biggest thing that gets him going is when someone insults his height. Even the tiniest mention of "small" or "tiny" when referring to him will make him explode with anger. In fact, it is almost comical, and his friends occasionally crack a few shorty jokes just to get him going.

Al can be quite overprotective of those close to him, mainly his younger brother Erik. He has gotten in quite a few physical fights regarding his younger brother, usually over trivial matters that could have been resolved by talking it out it instead of throwing fists.

Despite this, Al's record of being hot headed, he actually doesn't like fighting with people. But when he feels his honor or pride has somehow been insulted, then he feels he must do whatever it takes to restore that honor. Although he gets angry quick, he also forgives easily as well. Most of his fights are resolved right after the fact.

Even though he has a temper, Al does indeed have a heart. He cares deeply for his family and close friends, and always attempts to make it a good time when with them. Al is also a fan of pranks, and loves to play them whenever he has the spare time. Most of the time, it's all fun and games, although occasionally he might just pull one that goes a little too far..

A fact about Al is that he hates drinking milk or any dairy products, for that matter. He also has a fear of getting lost and always has a compass on him that was given to him by his older brother Jacob, although he has never had to use it.

Elrich and Alicia Vasquez had given birth to three children: Jacob, Alexander, and Erik. Jacob, the eldest at seventeen years old, was aloof and distant from the rest of his family. He was never content with life in their District, and often talked of plans to his younger brothers late at night about escaping to the upper districts, and even to the Capitol itself. A few years later, at age fifteen, Jacob vanished. Their family was torn apart with anguish at the loss of their first born son. He was presumed to be dead, but with no evidence of a body, he was declared missing. But the Vasquez brothers knew the truth, they knew what he had attempted to do.

Al, at the age of 11 when his eldest brother disappeared, felt a searing anger towards him for abandoning their family. They weren't very wealthy, and they made do with what little they were able to obtain as farmers for the Capitol. Al would often risk his life stealing fruit from the orchards when they had no other food to eat. He made sure that there were no Peacekeepers around when he did it; he was good at not getting caught. This was one of the only times he actually liked his size, it made him less noticeable.

For Al's entire life, he had always been there for his younger brother. When their eldest brother left them, their parents were broken, consumed with grief and sadness. Six months later, Al and Erik walked in their home to find their mother dead, a deep gash in her left wrist, an apparent suicide.

After his wife's death, Al and Erik's father couldn't take it anymore. He arranged for his sons to stay with his mother while he went to search for the truth on what happened to his eldest son.

Now, at ages fifteen and fourteen, Al and Erik considered each other to be the only family they have left.
