Beverly Augustine - District 12

Beverly stands at 4 feet 11 inches tall, and is underweight with 90 pounds. She is so thin you can see her collarbone broadly through her skin, as well as a few ribs. She has blonde hair that has a dull sheen to it, due to her unhealthy nature. Yet, she still has vibrant and happy blue eyes that still give her the innocence she once had as a young child.

Beverly has an average light skin tone muddled with cuts and bruises she achieves after a long day working with her mother at the Hob. She has small hands and feet for her age and size, which often makes her seem younger than she truly is. Her face is constantly in a sad or mad expression, however she is not ever feeling any sort of those emotions. Beverly hardly pays attention to her appearance, even when older women of her District compliment her for being a cute little girl.

Beverly is quiet and keeps to herself. She helps her mom out with chores around the house and eagerly waits for her father to return from the mines before bed. She acts more mature than her friends at school do, often taking things too seriously. She is never misunderstood and gives herself enough space to explain herself thoroughly and quickly.

She enjoys gardening on the weekends with her mom, Judy. Beverly is convinced it's what her calling is, and really wants to do just this once she is an adult. She loves the dirt and never fails to make a mess of herself at the end of the day. Beverly also wants to have at least three kids. While it's a hard task to keep just herself alive in District 12, Beverly loves kids and watching over her brother lightens her day up nicely. She gets along with him very well, and for this is also a good sibling.

While not having many flaws, Beverly also doesn't have very many perfections. She is more neutral than anything. One of her very limited flaws is she cares too much about what others think about her. She doesn't want an individual to look at her differently and hates to be looked down upon. She spends so much time obsessing over what someone may be thinking, she can't be aware of herself at all times. Beverly is also guilty of being a serial gossiper and spreads rumors about other girls at school quite often through notes in class and whispers in the hallway, giving others a reason to dislike her.

Beverly comes from a poor family living in the Seam. They have not much money to their names and only a small two bedroom house. They don't even have a front door; instead a curtain that drapes over the gaping hole in the wall. Her brother, Frankie, is one year younger than her and nearly a foot taller than her. She had a pretty normal District 12 childhood, except for witnessing her father's public whippings for attempted treason. He was let off much more heavily than the rest of his spy group, with the others either having executions or being turned to Avoxes.

While her father recovered, she became a bit more self-conscious while all of her District talked about what happened. She was called names for being the daughter of someone looking to take down the nation, and on her worst days would have stones thrown at her while small children called her expletives. She sought refuge at the Hob where her mom worked and wanted to have a job of her own as a janitor.

Once the job was given to her, her father also managed to return to work in the mines. He was apparently bullied by his coworkers because of what happened and carried the burden of his dead friends that got much higher degrees of punishment. He talked to Judy and Beverly about wishing he had been turned to an Avox over living with his guilt. Beverly and Frankie are coincidentally in the same grade and share the same class at school, making them much more likely to talk to one another. She doesn't know what she'd do without him and constantly seeks his advice at all times.
