Charlotte was a very intelligent girl and because she was aided by the loads of creativity she possessed, she had big hopes for herself. She had no intentions of being a factory girl, working in an assembly line day after day, putting pieces together like a mindless drone. Char had dreams that one day she would be a higher up employee, the kind who was valued, irreplaceable and perhaps even had an office of their own. Instead of being the worker she wanted to be the thinker, the idea behind the inventions that the people of district three worked so hard to put together.
Intelligence, creativity, and dreaming however clearly weren’t everything, because Charlie was still there working in the factory just putting things together. She loathed it but at the same time viewed it as a stepping stone to bigger and better things. Charlie would start low and hopefully work her way up. As a result, Char worked quietly without complaining day after day.
Today they had her working on cells phones, also known as the most boring tedious job and one she was more than sure that she could do in her sleep. The machines easily made the cell phone batteries and the phones themselves. It was the putting the batteries into the phones part that she was tasked with doing. Quickly enough, Char fell into a routine. Pick the phone up. Place a battery in. Cover the back. Put the phone back down onto the conveyor belt. It was simple enough.
As she worked however, Charlie couldn’t help but wonder when she would move onto something bigger and better than this. Something more complex that was actually worthy of her thought power because honestly, this job was kind of insulting to her intelligence. Char just hoped that today would be the someday that she heard someone calling her name over the speakers saying she was just promoted to anything really.
