Ashton Cole Vidal District 8 (Modified)

Ash has hair so dark brown it looks black, he is tan from being outside all the time herding sheep for his district. Of course, this would give him a ridiculous farmers tan from his tattered clothes that he wears. His face is chiseled, with gray eyes and a nose that is crooked from being broken. His mouth is dark and offset with strangely white teeth. He is skinny, but not dangerously so. He carries a wooden staff which he constantly whittles to perfect.

Ash is also very physically fit due to his constant trekking around the wilderness of his district. He often has to climb to find his lost sheep and has many muscles from using his staff as a weapon to fight off the wolves who constantly attempt to kill and eat his sheep. His muscles stand out in starkly because he is thin from lack of food, though he is better fed than most and his ribs are still partially concealed.

Ash is quiet, which is to be expected from a shepherd. He mostly keeps to himself, and prefers to observe rather than participate. However, he is very stubborn and loyal. He cares about three things, his family, his friends and his sheep. Because of this he has a strong sense of self preservation, his necessity to stay alive despite the harsh conditions he faces in the wild with his sheep, to protect the one’s he loves. This is his flaw, coming from a rebellious family who often get in trouble, he tries to protect them causing him to receive punishment, often physical. This also causes him to break the law by gathering food for his family while out with the sheep.

However, Ash doesn't try to openly rebel against the peacemakers. He knows that will only hurt him in the long run and he has become used to planning quietly and rebelling in small ways that will not get him in trouble.

Ash's secret dream is to one day marry his childhood crush Rebecca Bloomwood, a weaver and have a life of his own where he can provide for his children and hopefully give them a better life than he had. Even though he knows this is hard because of the rules in his district, he is determined to come up in the society; a small but important rebellion that he is determined he will make. He thinks that if he gets the life he wants, the Capitol will not have gotten the better of him and he will have won.

Ashton was born in a small hut in district 8. He was his parents pride and joy, their first child. They had many after, and now the youngest is merely a year old. Ashton was apprenticed to an old shepherd at age 7. He visited the old man after school every day to learn the job. The old man taught Ash much, including patience, and his favorite pastime whittling wood. Ash began to whittle toys for the children in his district and he is well loved by all of them.

When Ash was 12 the old shepherd died, leaving him devastated. The old man left him his old shepherd staff and Ash dropped out of school to take up the now vacant spot. He was put in the most dangerous job, farthest away from the town and the saftey of numbers. He earned only the lowest possible wages and rarely got to see family because of the distance.

One day, when he was coming home, he saw his sister being strung up on the whipping stand for backtalk to the peacekeeper. He fought the man, trying to save her from being whipped and ended up being whipped himself. He returned to work a mere two days after the incident because his boss was threatening to replace him. He is looked on as a rebel because of this, and has began to change to fit this role. He brings home food for his family from the wilds of the feilds and mountains.

I know the district for ranching is ten. But the description for district 8 says they harvest the materials needed in order to refine it. So, i figured they would have to have someone take care of the sheep so the wool could be gathered and refined and used to make stuff. If i was incorrect in assuming this i will gladly change the district. I just wanted to tell you guys so you know. Thanks!
