Moonkiss Bloodbone - District Eight

Moonkiss has very fair skin, often described as being snow white. Her hair is naturally a light brown, but her parents helped her purchase Capitol quality bright red hair dye, which has been in her hair for only two weeks. Moonkiss is obsessed with lavish couture, and more often than not, stylizes her own wardrobe to match that of the beautiful women that roam the Capitol. Her broad, long lips give her a model-like appearance that actually causes teasing from people at school. She is very tall and has a dancer's frame. She doesn't weigh herself much, but she would say that she is around 115 pounds.

Moonkiss has light grey eyes that almost appear blue. They are perfectly sized and shaped like two almonds. Her best quality are her teeth, almost perfectly straight and appearing like fresh milk. One distracting feature from her appearance is her nose, which is too wide at the base above her lip and then gets thinner as it goes higher. She constantly looks as if she is flaring her nostrils at all times. She also has some inconsistent acne that comes and goes depending on the time of the year it is.

Moonkiss has been battling depression all her teen life. She used to self-harm to release the inner demons, leaving scars that run up her arms that are always covered by long sleeve shirts and her mother's makeup. She now allows these fears eat at her from the inside out. While she never attempted suicide, as she was too terrified of death itself, she has made a point to make herself hurt to expel other hurt on the inside.

Moonkiss is irrefutably the most shy girl in her District. She hardly ever goes out in public, and never lets herself talk to people that pass her in the halls at school. She doesn't have the world's nicest marks in class, in part to her too afraid to outshine the rest, and instead sits quietly in the desk in the back of the room where it is completely alone. Moonkiss is self-conscious and anxious about every aspect of her life, like what people think of her and how she is behaving. She loves nobody, except her father who is always there to be her friend.

One thing that Moonkiss has found as a release is fashion design. When she is free from any academic arrangements, she pulls out her sewing kit that sits under her bed, some old and tattered clothes she either owned before or she bought at a 99 cent store, and begins her craft. She makes all her own clothes from the ankles up. And she's pretty good at it, too! Using Capitol fashion magazines and pictures as a reference, she attempts to create beautfiul styles for herself and even sometimes for her younger sisters if she pleases. Moonkiss has sold some of her clothings to buy a nice sewing machine so she can begin making higher quality dresses and blouses and pants, which is coming along fairly well.

Moonkiss Seramina Bloodbone is only the name her parents, Latinya and Brutus, picked out for her. She has three younger sisters, all given unique names. Shadowbliss, Glitterpuff and Golddance Bloodbone can all agree. Moonkiss grew up in a matriarchal family, ruled by her grandmother Jennie. Jennie only wanted women to rule the Bloodbone family name, hence Brutus taking Latinya's name once they married. Jennie was cruel to Moonkiss and always made fun of her from the moment she was born. Jennie died before the youngest child, Golddance, was even a thought, and the title of heir was passed to Moonkiss immediately: skipping Latinya. Because of this, she treated Moonkiss with the utter hatred she never thought a mother could give. Brutus noticed, and took his daughter under his wing and guided her through the womanhood he knew Latinya couldn't.

Moonkiss took notice to her flaws in life and begin to spiral into a depression. She started cutting herself at 14 years old and let herself think she was ugly but she wasn't. At the same time, she began to discover the wonders of fashion and beauty. Moonkiss never took these things as seriously as she does now. Brutus and Latinya hit a rough spot in their marriage when Brutus allegedly punched Latinya for calling Moonkiss a whore, and Brutus received public whippings for his crime. He had horrifying cuts and gashes and bloody sores all across his back and chest for weeks, and couldn't work for about a month following. This caused Moonkiss to cut even more.

By her 16th birthday, Moonkiss began to give herself more worth and self-appreciation. She stopped cutting and let pink scars form over her old wounds, giving her daily reminders of the pain she once went through. Nobody knows exactly why this occurred, why she just quit cold turkey, but it also correlates with the same time she became serious about her fashion sense. She sells some clothing for a few dollars here and there, hoping to earn enough funds for a sewing machine. She spent about $100 on red hair dye, and that almost caused her to cry when she learned the price. Yet, she paid for it and dyed her old hair a bright and beautiful red. She has grown over her old ways, to harm for release of pain, but she still hurts on the inside that maybe one day she'll never be perfect enough.
