Personality:
After three years of working in the sunlight pretty much everyday of the year, I have developed quite a tan. This also resulted in my arms and shoulders becoming quite broad, which looks quite out of place compared to the rest of my family. They're all skinny and short, and I'm all broad and tall. It's not a hindrance, it's quite handy. At the yearly reapings I can actually see what's going on.
My hair is a pale shade of brown, sometimes I develop blonde streaks in the summer from the sunlight, which I find suits me quite well. In the winter months, it tends to go darker and ends up being a greasy mess half the time even if I wash it every few days.
Just like my whole family, I have green eyes. Not many people in our District have green eyes - the typical look of deep brown hair and brown eyes causes my family to stand out. I don't particularly mind, I'm just easily recognised which is good when it comes to work.
As I'm one of the richest people in the District, I find that I don't end up having those hollow, hungry eyes or misshapen ankles and wrists. The poorer families give me desperate looks when I walk past, which isn't exactly a nice thing to witness everyday.
I'm not exactly a jokey person, it's just not in my nature. Someone will crack a joke, I'll laugh, that is all. I never crack jokes, unless I'm around my sister, Adalyn. I guess you could say I'm a serious person, but not to the point where I won't allow myself to have a laugh or do something utterly stupid with my friends.History:
Speaking of friends, most of them are older than I am and far more laid back. It's awkward being around them, I find, as they make dirty comments about any of the ladies that walk past, who always return a vicious scowl. A man I am, but I'm not obsessed with that kind of thing. I'm not a romantic, and don't really plan on anything until after I move out of my humble home in the middle of District 7.
Don't judge me, but I absolutely hate doing anything against anyone's orders. I'll always go to work, even if I'm ill, because my father says I have to. I'll come home at the end of the day, have my mother tell me to do my chores, and do them without question. Disobeying people is a difficult thing for me to do, especially when it's my family. It really doesn't help, as my sister is quite the bossy boots!
I also tend to find I'm quite impatient - especially at the reapings. I hate how our Capitol Representative will spend years and years rambling on about the games, spend another century or so selecting the names, and then chatting along to the whole District as the tribute is forced to stand on the stage. I find it most annoying, and tend to make many mistakes because of my impatience. Thank goodness I'm a lumberjack, the job is quick and easy. If I were a carpenter like my father, I'd surely end up smashing up all the wood from frustration.
Persuasion is an incredible weakness on me. I am so easily persuaded to do things - one time I almost got suspended from school for being asked to raid the school kitchens for food for some poor kids. Luckily nothing that extreme has happened since, it only becomes an issue when my best friend, Arden, tries to make me do something.
As I stated before, I am an absolute failure when it comes to romance. At 18, you obviously expect me to have had at least one girlfriend, and I have. Her name was Magnolia Hern, a fair haired girl who was extremely popular. I was 17 at the time, and as I'd been working for two years in the forests, I had been labelled as "hot". Muscles are apparently a wonderful quality to have, which I hadn't known until Magnolia kept stroking them, which was rather awkward...Codeword: odair
She had asked me to a dance, and I found it impossible to say no. One thing led to another, and we ended up dating for a month. Want to know how it ended? Well, my impatience got the better of me and I hated having to wait around for her dressing up, getting ready for dates, for her to say goodbye. I left her, not having any romantic feelings for her in the first place.
I don't have many friends, as I work full time I only socialise with my fellow lumberjacks. Most of them are all adults, apart from my best friend Arden and I. We met on his first day of work when he had turned 15, and I was 17. He'd been made my "student" - I had to teach him the art of axing. It took quite a while, as I'd found he kept flirting with all the older women. He has a good reason for it all, nobody knows except me. We make quite a good pair, really, he stops me from getting impatient and tells me not to do things when others ask me to do another. I stop him from messing around and ending up having a disgusting love life.
My sister, Adalyn, means the world to me. Though we are practically opposites, we're extremely close. I'm myself to her, and even though she has a hard shell, I can somehow crack it and see the real Adalyn. Unfortunately, she deeply despises Arden, so I can't invite him to my house at all.
When I was younger, about 10, our old house in District 7 caught on fire. Adalyn had been sleeping in her bedroom, and woke up to the blaze. I dove in to grab her, shaking like a leaf, shrieking for help. Ever since, Adalyn and I have always had a slight fear of fire. Adalyn's is worse than mine, so in the winter months nobody ever dares light a fire. Luckily, we can afford other electrical ways of heating unlike practically everyone in the District.
The reason our family is so rich is that my father is a carpenter, an extremely good one. He can build practically every object - beds, tables, bowls, even wooden spoons. You name it, he can build it! My mother is also a healer, which obviously receives good pay and plenty of supplies. This results in Adalyn and I having free health care, which was handy when I accidentally sliced someone's finger off with an axe in the first few months of me working...
