Age: 17
Gender: Male
District/Area: District 8
Appearance:
Josiah stands 5'9", a stature stocky but respectable. He is of a white complexion and has short brown hair and striking blue eyes. His smile wins over others and he is known for his utmost generosity and is altogether a respectable member of his community. He has relatively strong arms, with a majority of his muscle structure concentrated on his arms and back. He wears ordinary clothing, usually of a blue color, but wears a trademark gray hat that presses his brown hair down over his forehead. His feet are small but agile, as he plays recreational sports in his district.Personality:
Josiah acquires a more tan-like hue in the warmer months, but is most of the time white. His ancestry suits him to a brighter atmosphere nonetheless, although the environment he resides in is not as sunny. Otherwise, he is a boy overlooked in his district and otherwise excels in school and is a "pleaser" of others. His only distinguishable feature is a small scar that runs diagonally on his right eyebrow that was caused by a small accident in a game of tag.
Josiah's personality is both extroverted and warm. He's compassionate for others and is always available to help someone in need. He especially hates bullies and people who exert dominance and vows to take them down if he is selected for the Games at any expense. He is fearful of heights but tries not to let it affect him. Overall, he is personable and likes to be with others and suffers with solitude.History:
Josiah's strongest trait is that of compassion. He was known to raise money for a starving child outside of the local town by selling his trinkets and textiles in order to purchase bread for him. He is friendly once you get to know him, but he is otherwise outspoken and disregarded in the presence of dominant authoritative figures. He's also an emotional and empathetic person.
His flaws are only obvious once you get to know him. He is fast, but lacks stamina. He suffers if he is left alone and has a lot of energy paired with ADD. He can be attentive but only if he is interested in something. He is also easily put off by those who exert dominance. His skill with precision weapons such as bows are lacking but his physical strength and tactics counterbalance such a weakness in most circumstances. He has a natural tendency to be a bit loud rather than quiet and his killing instinct is only heightened when he is enraged. He's more of a healer than a fighter, but is easily ticked off and will use built up rage for his own benefit. He also has a tendency to trust others--perhaps too easily-- but likes friendship and tactfulness.
Josiah's family originates from a long history of people who raise sheep and collect their wool in conjunction with family friends who use it for textiles. Unfortunately, economic competition left the family poor like many others in District 8, making Josiah's family income average for his district. He grew up with his mother and father alongside a younger brother, Jack. Josiah's most notable ancestor was his grandfather, who revolutionized the textile industry in District 8 by combining metal decor with brightly dyed clothing prevalent in the culture of the time.Codeword: odair
Josiah was notably different from his physically superior brother at a young age as Josiah was weaker emotionally as well; but dominated intellectually. His love for competition drove him to be successful in both school and sports, and he trumped the other students in both. He isn't popular but has a wide array of friends and rarely comes home to his family as he is working on either his trinkets or practicing or hanging out with his two best friends.
His childhood was eschewed by his past experiences. He was bullied badly in his early school years and was pushed to the ground hard, getting a concussion and a broken wrist from falling face-first. His own blood frightened him upon awakening, and he was forever afraid to confront the bully until much later. He never provokes fights and instead reverts to a silent repose, finding solace under a tall oak tree, where he reads and eats his lunch. He loves the natural beauty of nature but is upset with the industrialization that took it away, although only to a small extent from his home town.
His mom is frail and weak as she struggles with several illnesses. His father works 12 hour days in a factory and is only home at night to take care of her, forcing Josiah to tend to his mother. This inspired him to be a caretaker. In a Reaping several years ago, before Josiah was born and while his parents were youthful, his father's best friend was chosen to participate in the Hunger Games as a tribute. The friend allegedly died within the first day as a victim of the initial bloodbath, which scarred Josiah's father immensely. His murderer was a brawny boy from District Two who killed him by throwing him to the ground and stomping on his head. This caused Josiah's father to resent the Games and raise Josiah to succeed in other ways--emotionally and intellectually instead.
