Appearance:
Will or Willow. Is not the sort of person who blends into a crowd. Unlike many of the residents of District 7 he kind of...sticks out, not only because of his physical appearance, but his attire as well. Willow is a fairly skinny boy, but not so skinny that he looks sickly or ill (Unless you count his ribs...because you can see those QUITE clearly.) His muscles, despite being un-nourished most of the time are well defined and show that he does something that involves physical labour. He stands at about 4' 9" making him rather short to most people and weighs in at 140 Lbs.Personality:
His body is mostly unscathed except for the two major factors. The first and foremost being the most prominent thing about him, which is the blindfold about his eyes, Willow chose at a younger age to wear a blindfold so that he would not have to witness the horrors of the world. Wearing this blindfold to hide from the world also has a secondary benefit, after wearing it so long and being without the use of his eyes, his ears make up for the difference letting him hear the world in different ways and almost see the world through sound. The second factor being the two almost identical scars running vertically from his forehead, across his eyes and down to about mid-cheek. They look like they were made by claws.
Now, when it comes to the rest of his appearance, his features only further enhance him standing out in a crowd. He has bright, bleach blonde hair that hangs down to about his butt, but people rarely see it down as it is almost held back in a tight, singular braid with a gold glasp given to him by a close friend, it bears a small silver fox on a circular emblem piece of the clasp. His skin is fair and peach colored, though constant malnutrition has caused it to become slightly paled.
When it comes to clothing Willow wears mostly simple clothing consisting of bare single color t-shirts and matching slacks. His clothing often sports tears and rips but is generally clean. The only really unique clothing he sports are his boots and gloves which he wears 98% of the time. They are both made of very soft and supple leather, not the quality you'd expect to find in District 7, they were a gift from his mother before she passed away, she'd gotten them as a gift from a trader she'd nursed back to health in her younger years. They are dark brown, and the stitching on them is expertly done, they fit his hands and feet perfectly as they had his mother, the boots...are a bit feminine, but Willow isn't one to care much for appearance.
They come up to just below his knee's but are more often than not underneath his pants. The insides of the gloves and boots are soft, and fur-lined for both warmth and comfort, the fur lining the inside is actually the fur from a wolf.
Beneath the blindfold that Willow wears are a pair of extravagant eyes, Willow actually has was is known as heterochromia which isn't a deadly disease or anything, it basically causes the person with it to have differently colored eyes and can cause a large variety of colors to be present rather than a single one. In Willow's case his eyes are actually like a rainbow-spectrum, starting with blue at the top and blending into several other colors in a ring around his pupil, they are beautiful to stare into, but are very rarely seen.
Who is Willow Sathine? To many he is a bit of a mystery, and to a select few he is a sweet and caring boy who tries to keep to himself most of the time. Willow is in fact a caring person, and very kind hearted, when asked for help he almost never says no, but he tends to be cautious at first, trying to judge the person first before he actually decides to help them.History:
But unfortunately, not too many people get to see the caring and good side of Willow, ever since his mother was executed by the capitol he has become quiet and drawn in. Not shy, he never hesitates to speak his mind, but when it comes to talking to people he is almost a ghost. Willow doesn't talk much, only acting to show his thoughts or words whether it be by doing something for someone or simply his body language, getting him to speak in school is even a challenge as he always seems to be off in his own little world.
Willow's blindfold, is meant to be symbolic and he refuses to take it off. After watching the public execution of his mother on Television he took to wearing the blindfold, so that he'd never have to witness the horror's that the capitol might commit about someone else, he was sick of seeing corrupt peacekeepers and people suffering when nothing was done, in his childish mind...he figured if he wore the blindfold then it might help him pretend none of it happened, but it also makes his hearing alot more attuned.
Some say Willow is a bit too trusting, but in truth. He isn't. He is a bit of an unknown prodigy, his mind always buzzing and working quickly to deduce situations and problems. He tends to not show off his intellect though, but that doesn't stop him from learning anything and everything he can both from people, the way they act, what he does and any other source. Though this is only inwards, on the outside he pretends to not be intelligent, in school he barely passes his classes and often doesn't show much in the way of intellect, when his blindfold is off more often than not you can find his nose buried into a book.
Willow is also a very determined person, this is both good and bad at the same time. When he sets his mind to do something he will work himself ragged or near death just to get it done, but it also gets him into trouble because he often doesn't care for the consequences and it has landed him in the detention centre more than once.
Willow is also a bit of a short fuse, it doesn't take much to get him angry or upset. And when he is upset he can be very harsha nd unforgiving, and when he breaks down, he falls far but always seems to be able to pull himself back up. This also manages to get him into trouble alot because he doesn't hesitate to speak his mind about what he thinks of the peacekeepers or his hate for the Capitol after what they did to his mother.
In District 7 Willow can often be found in his spare time working in the forest, chopping wood and doing many labour intensive jobs. He does it to keep his mind elsewhere and occupied. Doing this over the years has built his muscles and dexterity up quite well. To this point in time he has almost become one with the woods, he knows how to navigate them easily, both on the ground and in the tree-tops.
Willow was born and raised in District Seven. His mother and father were a hard-working couple that met whilst trading supplies. His father was and still is a lumber refiner as well as a craftsman while his moth ran her own apothecary business in the middle of town offering quality healing to those who needed it. Unlike his father though, his mother was a supporter and operator of a small rebel faction in District Seven, Though they were small enough to never really do anything publically, just a bunch of hotheads talking about how they hated the capitol each week.Codeword: odair
Willow was raised in a rather quiet house along with his younger sister whom he loves dearly, she is two years younger than him and is one of the two people in his life that he truly warms up to. His house was stable when his mother was alive, his family managing to scrape by and keep food on the table which allowed Willow and his sister to live a quiet and relatively simple childhood. When Willow was old enough he worked with his parents in both their shops which allowed him to learn both the lumber trade and the apothecary trade.
Despite working with both parents, from the day he was five Willow spent ninety percent in his mothers shop, learning the apothecary trade and everything he could from her. He truly did have a passion for it, and he learned quickly, these were the golden years of his life where he was allowed to be a child. A bright smile greeted customers and practiced hands ground up different poultices and types of medicine while his mother worked on patients, though their shop was often harassed by some of the more corrupt peacekeepers demanding free treatment.
Willow had a simple life up until about his ninth birthday when his mothers Rebel group was discovered. His mother, being as kind as she was took the full blame and wouldn't give up the names of her faction and so the Capitol had her publically executed. And for a boy of nine, this had a rather large affect on Willow as he watched the execution on their home television set.
On the day his mother was executed Willow donned a black blindfold fashioned from rags, swearing to both himself and his family that he would never look upon the horrors that the Capitol committed. He covered his eyes in hopes of erasing the image of his mother being killed in public. This was the turning point in Willow's life when he went from the starving, innocent child to the hardened quiet boy. At first his father thought it was just his childish way of being upset, but as time went on...he realized it was more than that.
After his mother was executed life for his family became alot more difficult. In District Seven it is not easy to keep food on the table for yourself and two children, nor is it in many of the other districts. The lumber trade definitely made alot more money than some of the other jobs but at the same time, scraping by wasn't easy. His father did his best to keep the family together and keep food on the table and against his wishes when Willow turned 12 he often brought home Tesserae without asking.
As time moved on Willow managed to sink deeper and eeper into solitude. He hardly spoke to those he knew and the boy simply refused to talk altogether half the time. The only person Willow spoke to willingly was his little sister whom he was very protective of. In his free time after school Willow would often find himself in one of the expansive forests with an axe in hand and a lumber cart dragging behind him. Ever since he was allowed to gather lumber on his own he would work himself ragged, every single day. Willow would often come home, pouring with sweat, utterly exhausted and then collapse in his bed without eating.
Around the time Willow turned twelve he began to take the carts of lumber into town, trading what he could for food and other supplies his family could use. Though the kind side of him often ended up with him arriving home with less than half of the food he'd traded for. There were families less fortunate than he was and he often left small amounts of food on those he knew of's doorstep.
As the years passed Willow honed his own craft, becoming a competent worker. To him being in the forest is the only place he can truly feel like himself. Every swing of his axe he pours out his emotions and allows himself to relax, to be the child he so desperately wants to be. It is also one of the few places he is willing to remove his blindfold and one of the few places you might actually see him without it...
And so here Willow is, Hiding in solitude and spending his free time working himself ragged. Where will he end up? What will he do?
Only time would tell...
