Aurora Brookside- District 9

Aurora stands at 5'4" and weighs close to 102 pounds. She has a slender and strong build that complements her ability to run long distances without getting tired. When you first look at her facial features, you'll find bright blue eyes and an angular face make her seem intimidating and lethal. Like any moment she could draw a dagger and gut you. If you can manage to turn your eyes from her stare, you might notice her wavy, dirty blond hair and small amount of freckles make her look more like a teenager than a deadly killer.

Since Aurora has worked in the fields for 5 years now, her skin has turned slightly tan and her hands have obtained the ability to mke anything from the most delicate camoflauge to the dealiest weapon. This has helped her make alot of the clothes and toys for her little 9 year old brother, Alex. Aurora spends most of her time either in the fields or out in the meadow training. In the meadow, you'll find her weilding a long branch as a sword or identifying plants that can be edible. (She had to work on this a bit before she was successful at finding plants that didn't make her sick to her somach.) On days where she has enough time and no one is watching, she'll practice setting up traps for food and sometimes gets lucky enough to bring home her prize. She knows one day she'll be picked, and she needs to be able to win the Games for Alex.

Aurora often appears cold and fierce when you first meet her. After all, she spends almost no time talking to other kids and sometimes may pull a knife from her belt and start cleaning it if you insult her. Sometimes, she'll even act this way towards her brother, as if she has no emotions at all.

But this is merely a mask. Unfortunetly, ever since her paents died, she believes that whoever she cares about ends up being killed or hurt When someone truly gets to know her, you'll find she's actually protective and caring. If she had to, she would offer her neck to save a friend. Sometimes more.

If she is picked to compete in the Games, she feels confident she can win. Aurora is an exceptional acter, and plans to be pettie and weak towards all of the tributes. But of course, when it comes time to impress the judges, she'll look as if she's floating with her amazingly agile and speedy sword work.
The only thing she worrys about is fire. Aurora has an extreme fear of fire. Also, she can't swim. Her only hope for the Games is that she doesn't end up on a flaming ocean.

Aurora had a good childhood. Her mom was a weaver who made stunningly beautiful cloths, and her father was the strongest man in the fields. She had all of the food and toys a kid in District 9 could wish for. When she turned 5, her brother was born, and she felt like the happiest person alive.

All of this was ended when a fire blazed through the fields that her father worked in and then burned down half the town. Both her mother and her father were trapped in the fire and killed. Aurora had sobbed over their death the night of her 9th birthday and swore to protect little Alex with everything she could.

From that moment on, she decided to work in the fields and sold almost all of her mothers weaving materials. Anything to keep food in their stomachs. Her aunt offered to move in and watch Alex for the day, which Aurora was greatful for, but she didn't have enough money to give herself, Alex, and Aurora food and clothing. Eventually, she bargained with a teacher so she could do only half of the school work and spend the rest of the time working. She still managed to be one of the smartest students. Aurora thinks all of the lose and heart break has only made her stronger, but deep down, she still aches to have saved her parents.
