Alyssum Silvrim | District 9

tiny but mighty
Alyssum is so scrawny and light the wind could carry her away if it picked up the right amount of speed. She has tangled hair the color of a starless night sky, and empty hazel eyes. She is five foot two, and she has a broad nose. Her small ears are square-like and resemble an Asian elephant's.
Alyssum isn't that "perfectly hot girl with all those curves" most people look for. Her pale face is always prone to blemishes, and her collarbone shows through her skin. Weak muscles hide under her skin, and her thin lips are always chapped. Her teeth are all twisted or chipped.

A frozen heart would be the appropriate way to describe Alyssum. As delicate as she is, she's filled with hatred and misery. She doesn't care for anyone outside of her family, and she isn't afraid to show it. Alyssum always picks fights and starts trouble in District 9. Nice clearly isn't in her vocabulary.
As cruel as she is, Alyssum is a bit delusional. On some days she pretends she is someone else. On other days she zones out and when she eventually snaps out of her reverie she tells her family she was visiting another world. She tells stories of her adventures with imaginary creatures, and even offers to take them to her special world.
To sum it up, Alyssum is an insane girl who hides under a tough exterior because of her lurking fear of the Hunger Games. When she's not picking on one of her siblings, she's usually off picking flowers in one of her fantasy lands or acting like a prime minister. She's not completely heartless though, like she thinks the Capitol is; she has a golden heart deep down and will die for District 9.

Growing up in District 9 wasn't easy for Alyssum. She had many siblings, and since there were so many she got little attention. This caused her to lock herself in her room and drift off into dreams of wonderful lands outside of Panem. With those illusions came her anger.
When she turned six and she went to school for the first time, she got into a fight with a student. Alyssum was about to punch the boy in the nose when she was stopped by the teacher and sent home. When she got home, Alyssum refused to talk to her mother and locked herself in her room again. When she came out, she had stories to tell about the archer and the princess of her "village."
Two weeks after her eighth birthday, her baby brother was born. Alyssum became attached to him and she spent more time with him than doing other important things. When Alyssum's parents got divorced, two of Alyssum's four sisters moved out with their father. Alyssum's baby brother went with them.
Alyssum went into another one of her reveries, and only came out of it to eat or go to the bathroom. She visited her dreamworld in her sleep and during school. No matter how many times she was reprimanded, Alyssum stayed in her little world. After she finally left her world, she started pretending to be other people. She mocked the teacher and all the students.
Years later, Alyssum is still the same. This year is her first Reaping, and who knows what will happen if she's in a fantasy when her name is called?
