Age: 16
Gender: Male
District/Area: District 7
Appearance:
Will is a tall, broad-shouldered young man standing 6'4 and weighing 198 lbs. with lightly dark-skinned, normally, Will always seems to have a dirty face. When he's not in school, he's out working in the forest trying to keep food on the table for his family. He wears his dark-brown hair up in a dread-locked ponytail, dreads, so he doesn't have to wash, and up to keep it out of his eyes. He has more splinters than fingernails and the calluses on his fingers have almost all been worn down.Personality:
A wrinkled, old flannel shirt, some dirty jeans and steel-toed boots are all of what you see on William Grey. He cares not of his appearance for he has no time for such nonsense seeing as his responsibilities lie in taking care of everyone else before himself. The bulk of his size is, more or less, the pride of his being, though he does not show it. The level of muscle-tone from harvesting the trees is powerful from the mere sight of him. Built to withstand the heaviest of obstacles, for sure, and an always appealing sight for the ladies.
William is strong, for that is sure, to carry over two-hundred pounds alone is a sight for any witness. Honesty is another favorable trait that William holds, for he takes no more than he’s earned and gives what he is of no use. You might say he is a well-rounded young man, but William lacks the intelligence that he should have. He cares little for his school work, as it’s mostly capital propaganda, and works twice as hard for his family and his neighbors, so that there is less tessera to be used. He is not the fastest person in his district either, being a large man does have its downfalls.History:
William can wrestle any man his size or greater, though there aren't many. He has a protective nature for any small creature, whether it man or beast, his softer side shows easily to those weaker than himself. He stays fair in just, two traits that come rare in these times we live in; to those that ask for a need he shall fill it. Some call that a weakness when forced to stand in the arena, still others see it as a rare gift that should be cherished in this dark world that we call home. Alas, with great strength comes greater weakness, and a terrible weakness does William have.
Will was never the smartest child in the district, never wanting to be tied down from making enough wages to feed his family. He would rather be working than sitting in a classroom wasting the day away. He did study just enough to get by and stay on the ‘average’ side, but he was no top grade ‘make the capital proud’ student. He was slow as well, fast enough to make from school, to home, to work in less than an hour, but didn't have to go too far. He took long strides with every step and put a lot of force behind each step, allowing the very earth to recognize his presence.
William was born in the 7th district of Panem, born to two wonderful parents and the oldest of four brothers and sisters. William new of the terrible Hunger Games and did his part in raising his siblings while his father worked to put food on the table. When he was eligible, Will took out a tessera for each of his family members, despite his parents’ disapproval. As the years grew on, he added a tessera for his surrounding neighbors as well, also getting a job working in the forests.Codeword: oDair
He started working when he was fourteen and gave everything he made to his family to help his father support them. He took on double shifts when his father died in a work accident and began to shape as a father figure in his household. Folks started to worry about his health and his likelihood in becoming a tribute, but he turned the conversation quickly each time it was brought to his attention. He would not have anyone worry over him; he would do all the worrying. Regardless, if the worst came for him, then he would simply have to win, plain as that.
No one could out match William in a full-on brawl, and he knew all the need-to-know survival skills. It would be simple to overcome twenty-three other kids and walk out of an arena, Will could even do it in less than three days. Then, he would come home, the victor, and never have to worry about taking care of his family again. He would live in the victors’ house, with his family, and finally be able to sleep, a necessity one always overthinks.
