Blood.

Mia was staring at the puddle of vomit that was covering the green grass. Was this going to happen every time? It wasn’t even that much blood, but it still made her leave. How is it even possible for to become a doctor? Simple, she wasn’t. Then the image of her father and mother popped into her head. For god shakes! How am I supposed to explain this to my parents? Last time this happened they nearly murdered me. Mia rubbed the scar on her arm that her father left after receiving the news that Mia ran off half way through a surgery.

Mia could hear footsteps approaching, it’s probably just one of my teachers here to scorn me, Mia thought. But Mia was astonished to hear a soft girl’s voice asking her if she was okay. She turned her head so that she was face to face to her patient. “Yeah, I’m okay.” Mia Lied, “ But that’s not really important. How are you. I’m sorry I ran out on you like that. Blood’s not my thing. I try to avoid it as much as possible.” She looked at the girl’s leg. It was all stitched up and cleaned. This made Mia feel a lot better. “ How does your leg feel. I have no clue how you managed to get such a big chunk of wood stuck in there. Biggest splinter I’ve ever seen hands down.” Now that all the blood was gone, Mia was feeling a lot better, she was now capable of standing up and her head was no longer spinning. But she was still really embarrassed.

Mia outstretched her hand, “I’m Mia Loveday. It’s nice to meet you. I’m not brave, not even close. If it was up to me, I would be as far away from the hospital as I can. It’s my parents, they force it on me. I’m probably the world’s worst doctor.” Mia rolled her eyes, laughing at the concept of her being brave. Like that was even possible.

She was leaning against the tree, letting the sun shine on her face, when what Brooke said finally sank in. She snapped up, so she was face to face with Brook. “Did you say your boyfriend threw a chair at you?! That’s unacceptable, you realize that, right? Even if he was drunk, that’s abuse. And no one deserves that. Do you understand that?” She didn’t even know the girl, so why was she so furious? She lived in a house filled with abuse and hatred. The thought of someone else going through the same thing as her, especially if they had an out, made her angry.

Mia could hear Brook’s voice getting shakier and more unstable as her story went on. She couldn’t believe what she was hearing, this girl’s boyfriend was trying to rape her. Nobody deserved that. Brook finished her story, rendering Mia speechless, she couldn’t find the words to comfort her, she never had been in this situation before. Mia was about to say something when Brook bursted into tears.

Mia wrapped her arms around Brook, stroking her hair, trying to calm her down. “Shh, shh. It’s going to be okay, it’s going to okay. Everything is fine, you’re far away from him.” Mia looked directly into Brook’s eyes. “Listen to me Brook. I know it’s none of my business, but you broke up with him, right? It’s not a onetime thing. If he tried to rape you while drunk, it means he has subconscious aggravation. It will happen again. Trust me.”

Mia was comforting Brooke when she heard a deep man’s voice sneak up behind them. She turned around so she could see who it was. Brooke didn’t have to explain to her who he was, she could tell was just by the expression on his face and the tone of his voice. He was here to finish the fight he started with his girlfriend. Mia realized her theory was accurate when he brought out his club and knife. Brooke broke out in tears when he got closer and started to yell at him, which wasn’t the smartest move, it made him angrier. This was a dangerous situation, and Brooke knew it too. "Mia, this is Eric, the boy I was just talking about, and I want you to run, now" She whispered to her.

“Listen, Eric is it? We’re not going anywhere, but you are.” Mia knew she was swimming in deep water, but she also knew that if they ran, it would only escalate the problem, and he would hunt Brooke down until she was dead. Plus, with Brooke’s wounded leg she wouldn’t get far. Mia knew how these things worked, she’d seen them happen. So she continued “Are you seriously going to fight us here, in front of a hospital! With peacekeepers and doctors crawling all over the place. ‘Cause I would really like to see you try. So listen to me carefully, I don’t want to see anywhere near here, or Brooke.” She didn’t know why she was so protective over this stranger, maybe she was just tiered of this type of scum walking around. If he tried to attack either of them, she could hold her own. She remembered some of the self defensive that her brother taught her when she was supposed to win the games. She wasn’t about to let some asshole like Eric control her or this girl.

Mia takes control,and starts telling him how it is going to be.He just rolls his eyes when she finishes,and whacks her across the head with his club.That was it.I run towards him,and he says,"want some more of me in you darling'.THE PERVERT,HOW DARE HE?!I act,and nod my head yes.He comes towards me,and I embrace him,as he runs his fingers up my body,it makes me sick.I run my hands up his waist,up his waist,up his waist,right to his knife belt,and take a knife,jump back,and throw it at him.As is Karma,the knife hits him right in his man area."AGHHHHHHH",he screams."Shut up!",I say,'its not like you have enough there to hurt",I taunt,before I grab Mia and we start to run.

Mia is right,my leg is already protesting at how much I have abused it,so I think."Just follow me,Mia",I say and I guide her into the Surgery room area and lock the door.I sit there,out of breath,and then look up at Mia and say,"what should we do?".
